Lacking Motivation, what do I do?

I completed the c25k program 1.8 times (had a non running-related injury that caused me to do a mini reset), started the b210k program, ran a 5k last weekend, but I'm really lacking motivation to run. It's hard for me to get up in the morning and step out the door. Today I was supposed to do 4.2 in the b210k program, and I stopped 5 minutes after the warm up and walked home. I was literally in tears feeling like such a failure. I used to love running and now I've fallen out of love with it. I don't want to lose my progress, but I just don't feel it. I wish I could listen to music or podcasts when I run, but I'm on dark county roads and I have to watch out for traffic and wildlife (I'm terrified of coyotes and feral hogs, and I've seen lots of eyes shining at me from the dark forest along the road).

What do I do? Any advice on how to keep going, or at least not give up? Please help! TIA

Why have you fallen out of love with it?

Maybe it's time to try something new for a while, stick to the odd 5k?

Or maybe you need to sign up to a 10k race and suck it up and get on with the training...?

I wish I knew the answer to that. I haven't been able to force myself to run lately either.

    Maybe try a different route?

Signing up for a 10k event might be motivating too.

I had plans to run a half marathon in April, but there's no way I'd be ready for that.

I don't know but if you are not feeling it, you are not feeling it. There are so many other things to do to stay active. I agree that giving it up for a while is a great idea. If you find you miss it then it will always be there. If you don't miss it then chalk it up as a great thing you used to enjoy.

I've chosen to take a break from running, I'm focusing more on strength training now. I just felt tired all the time, and think about running made me more exhausted. I'm still going to walk a couple times a week, I'm taking my dog and chose a new route, and I'll slowly work back to running, in a few weeks, but hopefully the fresh start will help. Thanks all!

maybe you need to look into a diet break or reducing your calorie deficit?

Yeah, I actually did a reset weekend, which turned into a reset week, where I ate whatever and did not worry about calories. It was time to change things up and get some energy back. I'm also failing at weights too, I think I started too heavy too fast, but that will benefit from extra calories as well.
