Any suggestions on getting over this without consuming copious amounts of sugar and carbs?

Traditional wisdom is to drink plenty of fluids and give your body an opportunity to rest. My wife had it, and my doctor gave me a prescription for Tamiflu just as a preventative measure. My wife stayed with the keto diet during recovery. I dodged the bullet.

lots of tea and broth...I usually don't have any appetite while sick, but can manage eggs or dairy for a little bit of nutrition...

Elderberry extract in water, etc. is supposed to help minimize virus replication, and therefore help flu prevention, minimize severity, and improve recovery...

But yeah, broth, fluids, eggs, etc. Low carb bone broth chicken soup, etc.
