MFP Success Stories

So I was browsing the success stories before and after photos, when I came across a set of before and after photos where I was just wow'd by the difference. I look through these photos and stories for inspiration and a reminder to myself that it can be done. Well after reading further into the information I see that this individual she pounds by having a weight loss procedure done. Needless to say, I felt as though I was let down. Now in no way am I saying that what she did was wrong I'm just sharing how I felt when I saw that little tid bit of information. Of course I have thought about having a weight loss procedure done, the doctor even asked me just last week if I had ever considered it. It's just that when I see so many people doing it(losing weight) with old-fashioned determination, calorie-counting and exercise it's like why should I go that route? Anyhow, just my thoughts...Happy Saturday!

Thanks for sharing. I know a lady that had the gastric bypass done several years ago and true she lost a lot of weight but guess what, she has now put almost all of it back on. I too thought about the surgery but it all comes down to changing your lifestyle. In the beginning after the surgery, she did very well because, she was forced to eat less but after time passed, she continued with her old eating habits and quit exercising , she didn't change. Its all about change. I am learning everyday to make small changes that will benefit me in the long run. I will admit I am a sucker for the latest fad diets or at least I use to be but now I just watch my portions, try to make healthier choices and walk my but off. I still enjoy my "junk" food every now and then but in moderation. Just last night I went to McDonalds and got 3 chocolate chip cookies but ate only 1 and put the other in the freezer for treats later in the week. Keep up the good work, you will get there, we all will get there, it just takes time and determination.0

I completely agree with both of you ladies. It is so easy to just have your stomach stapled, or a lap band put on, and for those people who want to do that, I am NOT knocking their decision. However, without the true commitment and dedication to just taking and keeping the weight off, to changing the way you eat, live and think about food, it is a temporary fix.
NOTHING and I mean nothing beats hard work and dedication and when you get to where you want to be- imo- you appreciate it more and are more likely to work harder to keep what you have earned.0
