I don't understand why the weight is going up instead of down. Does the carbs MFP shows considered net carbs or do you subtract the fiber from it? I am getting discouraged.

Hello, Stacey. To get net carbs, subtract fiber from total carbs. I don't know why you're gaining, but that said, I wonder if your protein might be a bit high. As I understand it, if you have too much protein, it supposedly converts to glucose. I try to keep my proportions around 70% fat, 20% protein, and 10% carbs. -Rebecca0

I have proportions close to Rebecca. I keep them around 75% fat, 20% protein, and 5% carbs. Good luck and I hope you figure out what was going wrong!0

My ratios are similar, 70% fat, 25% protein, 5% carbs (I'm trying to keep to 15g carbs). I did read somewhere, though, that as your body is getting used to burning fat for fuel that you might have a weight gain periodically.
Be sure to check your body measurements, especially if you're working out. You might be going down in size but not weight (muscle weighs more than fat). A few suggestions I've read elsewhere are to strictly track your macros and be sure to re-calculate what your macros should be given any changes you've already experienced. Add exercise, reduce your overall calories and try intermittent fasting.
Google Intermittent Fasting - there are a lot of articles out there about it. My takeaways were that body builders found excellent muscle building with 16 hour intermittent fasts. The time when you are sleeping counts. I had previously discovered that I sleep better if I don't eat past 4:30pm so I was already practicing IF without knowing it - I don't eat again until around 6:30am.
I hope this helps!!0 -

Hi. If you are using uk products the carbs shown are net. If you are using us then they are gross and need to subtract. Claire0
