Good morning everybody!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was good. Busy but good. Had to miss the gym on Saturday because we had too much to do and Max is dealing with a cold. He missed yesterday's gym workout but I was able to go. I think he will probably skp today's gym workout too, to try and get better. Nasty cold... So far I am still okay and feeling healthy. Been washing my hands and taking some of those Emergen-C type powders that you mix with water. I also take a probiotic, a multi vitamin and all that fun stuff. *fingers crossed*

Not much else happening here. Just a light day Monday. Hoping for a decent week weather wise. They say we may be getting snow again here on the New England coast on Wednesday, 1 to 3 inches. If the storm heads south it could end up being mostly rain. PLEASE JUST RAIN! LOL

Have a great day all. See ya soon!

@meghan509 Been thinking about you. Sounds like your area was not effected by the power outages?

    Thanks @jknight001
No power outages for us, but around us yes! We are very lucky. No big trees down from Friday. It was very rainy and windy with lots of branches scattered around the driveway and yard. :o

@Meghan509 Glad you were spared. We had a tree knock down a line and our power was off for 5 days in December. We do get quite chilli here at night due to the low humidity. Was soooo thankful when the power and heat returned.

    Good morning all.

Hang in there @sjgold123 sorry to hear your scale woes. Sometimes the body needs a little bit of a reset and that is why it is slow with losses or it holds on to weight. Hang in there. Keep doing what you are doing. Stay focused and the scale will move. *hugs*

Wow, @jknight001 five days with no power is not fun! I would be climbing the walls! I am terrible when the power goes out. I like my routine!
In any case, feeling very grateful that the storm didn't hit us harder. Also thinking about those who didn't make it. I heard that the east coast and this area had around nine deaths from the storm. Trees falling on people, cars, houses, etc. Terrible. :(

Well, we are officially expecting snow here Wednesday. Just had to change a flight for someone I work with and for the other person, she is going to have to hope for the best. Snow is coming at midnight tonight and will produce six to twelve inches for us along the coast throughout the day on Wednesday.
We have plenty of food and whatever else we need. I am thankful that we have power and we didn't lose it with the last storm. Feel bad for those people who are still out and now another storm is coming...
The thing that I don't like is missing the gym. Wednesday will be a no go due to the weather and Thursday I will have to miss because of a hair appointment. Maybe I will see if I can find an exercise video or something to do while we are stuck at home. Need to keep eating clean and rely on good old calories to produce a loss. Fingers crossed...

Not too much else new here. :) Hope you all have a good one! Check in with you soon.

Yes, @sjgold123, hang in there. There are lots of things that can cause a scale not to budge - too much salt, TOM, building up muscle, etc. Give it a few more weeks before throwing in the towel.

@meghan509 Maybe you and your guy could chase each other around the house for exercise? :D

Thank you. I've survived my low day and thankfuli can eat tomorrow ha ha i'm hanging on as i know how far i have come. 1 stone 4llbs lost and the great thing is i have a gorgegous ball dress that i want to wear in 2 weeks and i can get into it! So i've done what i needed to do as that was my goal and i have 10llbs more for my ideal weight. However i expect that to take a lot longer and i'm ok with that. Then once i'm there maintenance will start. I feel better and people are noticing. I notice what i'm eating and i appreciate the healthier relationship i have with food however it's hard when the scales stick!
Good to hear how everyone is going thanks for the encouragement x

    Good morning all!

Woo hoo @sjgold123 good for you. 10 more pounds - you got this. So let me just say that since you are close to your goal, losses may be slow at times. I am still around 30 or less to go and I already notice the slowness. Hoping that by mixing up my calories and eating a little less (tracking a little better) I can change that. But, it happens! I also think I am making muscle too, so when I am seeing a half a pound loss per week it is because there is some muscle in there that has grown. I can see it in my appearance and my size and inches have gone down. I can see it and feel it. Just my two cents but keep the faith - you are close and I bet you look awesome!

LOL thanks @jknight001 yep it is a snow day today. Not much happening at the moment snow wise but it is coming. Six to nine inches on the way and schools and airports, etc. all closed or limited with flights, etc. Last night after the gym, we stopped at our local Costco to pick up a few things and we saw the typical carts filled with tons of stuff - people planning for the "end of the world". It is just a little snow! It is going to melt! Sigh... :D

The good news is the weather will warm up again the next few days and be back to warmish and springlike for the most part. A minor blip. We got this!

This weekend we are looking forward to spending Sunday afternoon with friends up at one of the casinos in CT. There is a show they had (free) tickets to, that they invited us to. Going to meet up for lunch and see the show. Should be fun.

Today is a regular day and tomorrow a light day. Grateful to be able to log on to work remotely today and stay safe.

Hope everybody has a great day! See you all soon. :)

    Good morning everybody,

Been quiet in here lately. How's everybody doing?

We had snow hit here yesterday but today we are back at it. Business as usual. On the coast of CT, we were spared the worst because of the way the snow bands came at us. We only got a few inches of snow. If you drove a few miles north and east total different story - probably a foot or more for some of those people. :open_mouth:

Looking forward to the weekend, that is for sure.

Light day today. No gym again tonight. Not because of snow but because of a hair appointment. Oh well. Life happens!

Hope everybody has a great day. See you soon. :)

Our poor little group...hopefully things will swing back up this spring. The new year's resolutions are starting to fade and a damn man just showed up in the group talking a bunch of keto psychobabble! Hope I'm not scaring anyone off.

Haven't been able to swing a fast this week...yet. Maybe I'll get a long one in tomorrow.

    Have a good one.

@orlcam Well, on the bright side, I saw TWO mentions of 5:2. First was in the Costco Connections magazine in an article on fasting that mentions 5:2, fasting windows of eating and the once a month fasting (don't remember the official name but @ryenday has done it). The second was in a web article that talked about Jimmy Kimmel using 5:2 to lose his weight and keep it all. Looks like fasting is gaining some traction. Sorry, no mention of keto.

    Good morning everybody...

Yes, been slow here lately. Lots of our regulars have not been checking in lately. No need to name names, they know who they are. Everybody has lives, maybe has changed WOE's, or they lurk. Not calling anyone out on anything, just my two cents is all. It's a free world and everybody can do what they need to do... :)

I hopped on the scale this morning and see that I have gained about a pound and a half. So much for that nice loss that I had last week. Feeling really frustrated and disappointed (again). Time for a change. Whatever I am doing (or not doing) is not working. Am I eating too many calories? Too little calories? I don't know. I have mixed up my exercise and I have added weights in the last few months. Happy about that. Will continue with weights and will shake up the cardio. I had tweaked my calories so I am eating more on non light days. Don't know what else to do.

It is time to rethink things. When I look at my progress on MFP in the last three months it shows I have lost a whopping four pounds. Below is a quote that pretty much sums up how I feel.

I am going to step away from 5:2 for a bit. I am going to focus on plain old CICO - Calories In, Calories Out. Track my calories and exercise. Eat less and burn. No fasting for a few weeks.

I will still pop in here and post but I probably won't be starting the weekly thread going forward. Grateful for the 50+ pounds I have lost in the past year here, but time to move on to something else for a bit. My guy is in the same boat as me. But, in his case he has been gaining and losing the same few pounds for the last few months. Very frustrating and time to shake things up.

Sorry for the long post, but wanted to let you guys know that I will still check in here but a little less... Grateful for this group and all of the people who post here. :)

    See you all soon.

@Meghan509 So sorry to hear things are not going well for you lately with 5:2. So frustrating to do all of the right things but not achieve the outcome you had hoped for. :/ I have often wished I could go to coffee with my body to find out what is really going on.

I hope you do stay in touch because we like you for so much more than your 5:2 losses. You have been so dedicated that I know you will give 150% to what ever you decide to do.

Wishing you the best! - Julie

Hi all a lovely but tough weekend for me around food as it's been full of lovely celebrations but means it's hard eating around others who don't count then proceed to encourage you not to care!? Only light hearted but as it was a buffet it was so tough. I have a low day tomorrow before i weigh myself tue but i'm dredding it as my week has involved cake and alcohol. Last week before my ball and although i've not gained I'm not feeling as slim in myself and just find it easier to pick fault. My husband it nearly at his goal so it makes it harder for me i feel. Here's hoping for a good week x

Holy cow! Just caught up on 18 posts!!!
Meghan, re read your first post from the week... the one where you understand that you’re gaining muscle and that you understand that last few pounds are stubborn to get off! Sticking with it is the toughest part of this journey! Hugs..

I know sticking with it for me has been hard, lost a lot of weight, I’m 5’6” and had a 29” waist and figured that was it! It was gone for good! But nope!! It takes work here.... sigh.. I haven’t measured my waist in a long time, maybe since last summer! I’m still fitting into my pants but I’ve got that roll around me now.. argh!

Orlcam, I enjoyed your insightful post - keto experiences and all! And, you’re a man! Woohoo!

I’m typing on my phone while laying down... I must find time to type while on my reg computer!!! I usually only use mfp while on my phone, but I need to get back on track!

Good job jknight on your recent loss! You’ve been doing well and it’s nice to see the continued dedication!

Life here has been full of surprises thanks to my husbands immediate retirement and now he is having knee surgery this week!! My mom is back walking now after her fall and my kids are in full swing of studying for exams! Whew.... I’m determined to have my own time to ensure I’m focused on my diet during these days!!!

I’m on the west coast here so a little late for most for me to be the one starting the new week tomorrow but if I check tomorrow and don’t see it started, I’ll start it... wow did that make sense?

    Good night 5:2rs!

@sjgold123 - So sorry it has been so hard. It is a new week with new opportunities. The beauty of doing a lifestyle change is every day is a new opportunity to jump into the lifestyle. Overeating does not make you a failure. Even people who do not have to watch their weight overeat. It is the choices you make from here that will make the difference.

@mamainthekitchen - So good to hear from you. Glad your mom is doing better! Prayers for your husband's surgery. Is the retirement permanent or will he be looking for work when he is ready?
