Living the Lifestyle - Weds 3/14

We meet here to explore, share, celebrate, and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for March are:

Monday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Tuesday - 88olds (George)
Wednesday - Calvin2008Brian
Thursday - misterhub (Greg)
Friday - Al_Howard

Today's Topic: what's your go-to comfort food, and how well does it mesh with your WL/maint plan? Let me set the stage a bit: you're not feeling well, you're getting over a bad cold, nothing tastes quite right, you're tired and worn out and not sure if the cold meds or the virus are kicking your butt ... but you're hungry and you want something soothing and easily digestible and maybe, just maybe, it's gonna make you feel just *that much* better?

Ice cream...and probably weird to many...saltine crackers.

In moderation, both work very well with my WL plans. Although, I rarely keep ice cream in my freezer and purchase it when I am out.

Ha! Saltine crackers for me too. Sometimes with soup, sometimes by themselves.
    Chicken noodle soup
Mashed potatoes or a baked potato
    Grilled cheese sandwich
    Hot chocolate
About the only cold "food" I want if I'm not feeling well is Diet Coke over crushed ice

    Soup. Probably chicken noodle.
    Oatmeal.

Both work fine with my plan.

I went with rice and a scrambled egg last night, but, seriously, my backup plan was @88olds' oatmeal and chicken soup.

Colds are miserable, more and more so the older I get. It seems that I don't get a cold anymore that doesn't come with random muscle soreness. Yesterday it was my neck and left shoulder. Today, it's my low back. I can work from home this afternoon, but I'm honestly not sure how that helps. What I need is a cure for common cold.
