I never even heard of Yudkin, but I'm familiar with Dr. Wiley who was an even earlier opponent of sugar and preservatives...and sadly, equally harassed by the industry...<sigh>0

I just wish they hadn't brought out the "sugar is more addictive than cocaine" line.
It may affect the same areas of the brain but MORE addictive? Or even AS addictive? Probably not. Demonizing sugar is generally about as bad as demonizing fat. Well, almost. 
I think the real demon is high fat WITH high sugar and refined carbs. Those two together are the real demon - IMO.
Yudkin's book, Pure White and Deadly, is a good read if you can find it.
