I'm 43 and my period has been irregular for 4 months along with increased intense migraines. My period was always pretty regular and mild and now it is crazy. My mom is dead and I don't really have any other older females in my life to talk about this experience with right now.
Just saw the doctor the other day and she said it could be perimenpause but they want to check other stuff to make sure it isn't cancer or something else.
I guess the worse thing right now to deal with is the migraines.

    Welcome!

Yes, migrianes can be part of it. But they might be something else too. Good thing you saw your dr.

I have had a transvaginal ultrasound, blood tests, pap smear and pelvic exam. Still to come is a endometrial biopsy next month since my mom had uterine cancer.
Doctor says I am likely perimenopausal.
As of right now I apparently do have hypothyroidism so will be starting medication for that.

    How are you doing?

I'm doing better I think. I started taking levothyroxine for my thyroid. I feel less tired. My temperature seems more even and appropriate to actual conditions. I have not had a migraine since starting it. I have not had a period since starting it so don't know if there will be any changes there.
I don't have cervical cancer. I still need to do the endrometrial biopsy.

Isn't it handy that thyroid issues often show up at about the same time as perimenopause? ;) I'm closer to 50, so more suspect of PM, but the levothyroxine got the timing of my periods back on track after a year-long period when things were wonky. But where my periods were always extremely regular & mild, I now have a day or two a month where I am curled up with the heating pad and can hardly leave the house. :(
