Marathon training and weight loss

I’m training for my first marathon (NYC in November). I’ve ran/walked lots of races, up to half marathons, but I want to run New York. Basically starting slowly since I’ve been sedentary for months. I’ve also gained weight over the last few months. Body fat is mid- to high-30s.

I’ve been off and on LCHF and IF many times, and it works for me in terms of fat and weight loss. But I’m worried about trying to get fat-adapted while increasing my exercise. However, I can’t run a marathon at my current body fat % and weight. It’s going to make it too hard and painful. Any advice from endurance runners?

Stats are 5’8”, approx 163 lbs, 47-years-old

Thanks.

    Bumping cuz we do have at least 1 other marathoner here. Her name is Marcie something. :) I couldn't find a post to find her name to tag her here but she ran a marathon a few months ago. @KnitOrMiss, you recommended the Volek and Phinney book to her which she found really helpful (in the Keto forum).

    @Marcelynh maybe?

    Yes, ma'am, that's her! Hopefully she'll see this post and join in.
