I have been having a very bad time digesting this weekend. Pain is a 8 at least. I would have went to the ER but from past experiences I know it's pointless as "there's nothing more we can do about your gp". Ivr been begging for a tube but my GI is ultra conservative. Grrr frustrated.

I hear you on ERs..I actually reserve them for life and death because the are mostly useless and sometimes dangerous! We have 5 or so hospitals in my area and you have to ER hop because some of them refuse to CT scan..I've been is serious divirticulitis pain on weekends and not give antibiotics because of a lack of diagnosis because they refuse to scan..

I've left an appointment once and told the doctor, "I won't be coming back to see you. We didn't connect and I need somebody that's on my side." Man, his nurse looked at me like...Damn. I don't pay a co-pay to hear you saying that I'm probably just stressed and I should eat more fiber because you LOOK healthy.
    What?!

@purebredpolly I'm usually such a nice person too :D But, I refuse to spend my family's money on a co-pay when I'm not getting anything but some crap from some doctor who just sees me as a number on a chart and not a REAL person. I always think about the movie, The Doctor. For those who haven't seen it, it's about a doctor that doesn't really understand his patients until he becomes ill. Illness will make you fight for yourself, it takes some time, but you will get to the point where you say to yourself...I love myself more than you.

You know Kat, I so get you. I've been in that place with my cardiologist where I'm not willing to be dismissed, and I call him on it. It cost $80 to walk in the door, and we don't have $80 to burn, so take me seriously.

I've refused a certain surgeon, and anthologist because they did not treat me respectfully when I had a prior surgery, and a prior surgical procedure, and I wouldn't accept it twice. Kind of hard to walk out while your lying on a surgical table, both times, so I had to suck it up at the time. I was not however into a repeat performance by either of them. :( I dropped two pulmonary specialists because of poor care, but I didn't do what you did when I dropped them, but I should of. Like you I feel as if I am a nice person, but I've gotten where I just feel bold about my treatment since my ICU stint. Sometimes I'm afraid of what will come out of my mouth, as I always want to be very lucid, and present in the moment, and not be perceived as irrational. What you told that doctor was beautiful, and sheer perfection.

So true. I think we are so scared especially when we are unsure of what’s going on and you feel like this person should know the reason. And, maybe you don’t know the reason, but don’t make me feel like crap AND stupid just because you have an additional 7 years of school. Um, I’m the reason THAT you have a parking space reserved for you and can take that “spontaneous “ vacation. We give you that, so give us some respect for 20 minutes.

Lawd, this thread is getting me hot! :D

I woke up during my last colonoscopy in March and looked at the anesthesia guy and yelled "Ouuchhh! Hey aren't you supposed to be sedating me??" I vividly remember the shocked and panicked look on his face as he jammed a needle in a tube..I almost complained just because I felt that I should have been heavier sedated..that never happened to me before!

Lol @Jennymarie57 I’m proud of you!! I’m married to an attorney, I would be like “I would like a house in the islands.” Hmm, SUE!!! I’m kidding. :D I mean my husband is an attorney, but I know mistakes happen. Have you ever seen the movie Awake (by the way, I love tv and movies and reference a lot) but anyways, this guy is awake for his whole procedure and hears all kinds of shady stuff.
    Cheesy...but good.
It wasn’t gonna win an Oscar, but it was good

Anesthesiologists grrrr. Mine put my epidural in the wrong place before my proctocolectomy so when I woke up I had no pain relief. They didn't believe me until the next morning when my stats were very bad. I had a few dilaudid shots overnight but my pain management was horrid. I mean I only had 33 staples in my abdomen and 29 perianal plus dissolvable stitches in my hooha from fistula repair and around my ileostomy.

I live in Canada so appointments, etc are free but we have a huge doctor shortage (drs get paid more in the states) so wait times are incredibly long and there aren't many dr of each specialty so it isn't really possible to just walk out. You get what you get.

Okay, now I’m jealous of you @singingflutelady because I know Canada has one of the best health systems in the world.

Can I hate you now? But still love you too?
    Damnit. Another catch 22.
    I’m kidding :)

Ya know if it wasn't so darn hard to find a good dr. around here I may have said something about the colonscopy wake up nightmare..lol..But it's frustrating..They know they are in demand, so,it's hard to be choosy or rock the boat..Sometimes I want to fly myself to the mayo clinic and get full system tests just for the fun of it..lol..All of the odd symptoms DDS come with makes u feels like your losing your mind sometimes!

Exactly! and yeah, this thread is making me hot too. It's so frustrating, but then when you get a good doctor, I swear to you, it's like the Hallelujah choir is playing every time you see them. I could not be happier about my endocrinologist.

1 more week until I see my GI. I'm going to ask for a referral to a motility specialist. I hope he does it.

Tomorrow is the day. I really hope he does something as 600 calories a day intake is really no fun

@happykat5 it was pretty pointless. He didn't say anything about my weight( i am down 15 lbs since he last saw me 7 weeks ago and am now underweight). He is sending a referral to a motility specialist but the wait is very long. All he did was change my PPI and said see you in 3 months. 3 months when my weight is falling? I told him I was concerned about that and he said oh if it gets worse I'll admit you for TPN which I really really don't want as I hate it. Outpatient or NJ or any other tube is not an option.

@singingflutelady I was on TPN (and nothing by mouth) for a year. That’s the main reason why I started to do everything to get off of it. I ran 12 hours on/ off 7 days a week. My biggest bag calorie was 5,000 kcal. I hated it, but I needed it. Remember you may need to keep your options open...just for a bit so you can back to healthy weight. Can you do ensure or anything like that?

I'm basically just doing a few ensures a day atm. I've been on tpn 2 x before and I'm not against it but I really don't want to be in hospital and it's not available here as an outpatient.

Ahh! I would see the nurse (she would come to my house and do my lab work) on Thursday, I would get a 7-day supply. They were so big and I used our two veggie crispers in our fridge to store them. When a I started back on solids I made it as calorie laden as I could. Potatoes with butter and sour cream (even tho I’m lactose intolerant). So, weird because I had always ate pretty clean. Now BUTTER!!!
