We meet here to explore, share, celebrate, and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for April are:

Monday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Tuesday - myallforjcbill (Bill)
Wednesday - minimyzeme (Kim)
Thursday - misterhub (Greg)
Friday - 88olds (George)

Today's Topic: Force Fit

Have you ever done anything in pursuit of weight loss/better health that you realized pretty quickly was not a good fit for you yet continued to do that thing? What was it? Why wasn't it a good fit? Why did you continue to pursue it? What made you finally stop?

Bonus Question: You can see any concert of any person/group living or dead. Who will you see?

Jenny Craig. DW was doing it and I got in. DW could live with it for awhile, I really couldn’t. Spent weeks hungry, uncomfortable and crabby.

It was basically a no food diet. A diet in every bad sense. But I stuck with it because DW was doing it and I didn’t know any better. Just kept kicking myself thinking I “should” make it work. I finally stopped because I really was not doing the program and trying to fake it was wearing me out.

    Bonus: Louis Armstrong

Cabbage soup diet. What a poor decision on my part.

Bonus: Allman Brothers original band with Gregg and Duane. However, I would be glad to go with others to see Beatles.

Not really. I did try the South Beach diet about 15 years ago (which was about 12 years before I started WW). After a couple weeks though, I just stopped doing it. Even though I lost weight, I realized it wasn't for me. I knew I couldn't or wouldn't sustain it. Even when I was reading about it before I started, the yellow flags went up with its suggestion of all the processed foods (not that there's anything wrong with that B) but they're not for me). I don't remember all the details but even though there was some plusses to the program, I didn't like the initial stopping of all fresh fruits and bread. This morning, I had bread for breakfast...and an apple.

Bonus question: Johnny Cash (but probably not in Folsom Prison).
