In a coffee shop today, there was a mom sitting in a chair at a table with an infant in a large stroller next to her. As I walked towards the exit, a baby bottle plummeted to the ground & started spouting a steady stream of milk. The mom was trying to maneuver out between the table & the chair when I remembered this challenge and ducked down to retrieve the bottle. I said a cheerful “I got it!” as I scampered to get some napkins to clean the milk on the floor. Really felt great!7

Nice! It’s a great feeling to step in and help someone whose hands are full and just needs an assist. Well done!2 -
My husband has an appt. for a blood check today. Although the clinic is close by we're expecting more snow and even though he hasn't said so, I know he's a little concerned about road conditions. So I'll run to the store today and as long as I'm out, I'll volunteer to drive him to the clinic. He'll appreciate the effort and I'll know he'e safe.8

I really enjoy this challenge, too. It's a good way to bring light into another person's day and yours as well. I regularly let people cut in front of me at the grocery store who only have a few items and I have half a basket or more. I did that yesterday and the woman was so grateful, she thanked my twice once when I let her go in front, and again just after she paid.7

Why am I not surprised that this group is full of thoughtful, empathetic people who regularly practice random acts of kindness?5

An act of kindness that I sometimes do is on trash pick up days. I'll put on a pair of disposable gloves and pick up paper and trash that has blown around into the street or my immediate neighbor's yards. Unfortunately, some of it is because we have one neighbor whose company sometimes dumps (it has been observed so we are not jumping to conclusions) their fast food wrappers, soda cups, as well as other 'beverage' cans when they come around, and the people living there seem not to notice. Cleaning this from the street and our yards, (including said neighbor's yard) helps me not be so judgemental or snippy about it in my heart because I hope to focus on the kindness part and keeping our neighborhood welcoming. That is hard sometimes though, I will be the first to admit.
I have not been out so much this week so I am trying to be aware of opportunities to do little things for my DH that are unexpected. But sometimes it is not so much an act of kindness, as doing something purposely, that will make him laugh unexpectedly after a hard day working.
It is looking like rain outside, so earlier I brought my elderly neighbor's paper to her porch. It is fun to try to be able to do it without her dog noticing and barking  , I got away with it today lol.
I agree that it can be hard to write about things that we do so as not to sound bragging etc, but how else can we get fresh ideas or share blessings. Also reading such things is a blessing in itself also because of how it can raise the reader's spirits also. The same as when we read or hear of a kindness when we don't 'know' the person(s) involved such as during a national disaster. Kindnesses don't have to wait for those times, but be part of our every day life.
My favorite personal response to a Random Act of Kindness was during the last time we were doing this challenge was when I wrote "But the best response was at our local post office nearing Christmas when I was leaving after mailing a package. I purposely waited a few moments for this woman to walk up to the door and held it open for her. She smiled really big and told me "thank you", and then stopped and turned back around to tell me that she appreciated me holding the door for her so much that she was going to be sure to pass the kindness on to another person."

OMG @77tes That is amazing! So happy for you!
Yesterday I was the recipient of an act of kindness.
I had a terrible fight with my husband over the phone. I was feeling defeated. Later in the day one of my neighbors texts me a joke meme, I was not feeling it, so I just replied " lol". She noticed right away because I usually reply to jokes with a bunch of emoji's or another funny meme. She texted me this without me asking or telling her what was wrong:
" You are doing an amazing job with your kids, you are a great mom, you kids will appreciate it. I appreciate you, and am so thankful you are across the street from my house. I can really count on you and can talk to you about anything. I love you."
Oh my Lord! This made my day.

OK, not so random act of kindness done.
I work at a university. This is a tough time of year for students. Finals and end of semester reports are looming. And many students are participating in our Undergraduate Research Conference, where they’ll create a poster of their research findings and then present it. Talk about stress!
But there’s a serial RAKer amongst us (one who regularly practices random kind acts) and she left this:
Thoughtful, huh? Apparently, her post-its have been sighted all around campus.
So this morning, I left my own post-it for that thoughtful woman and notes suggesting that everyone who had a rough day or a great day should take a flower.
The weather cooperated too! It’s gray and snowing today. We all need flowers.
Bonus: the vase was a duplicate and I’ve now re-homed it.
Make it a great day!

I'm surprising my son by doing a load of his laundry.

i just joined this group and tend to be a lurker. I was reading posts and was trying to think of something to do for kindness. while at work, I received a phone call:
i spoke with a gentleman today, who asked if it was ok that he ask me something.
Curious i said "go ahead"
he said "has anybody told you today "i love you".
i said nope, "you'd be the first. thank you"
he laughed, he said he likes to say that to people, but with the stuff going on today and the things you see on tv, he was afraid he might offend.
he wanted us to know the we do a tremendous job and we go over and above. he appreciates it and wants to say THANK YOU
before getting off the phone, he said "Hey, has anyone said I love you today?"
i said "Yes, a very nice gentleman, just a few minutes ago."
As this week is a week to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness, i thought i'd share this, as it might brighten someone else's day
I shared it with my co-workers. I played his kindness forward.6 -

That is just lovely, @OrlisMoonpie688. Thank you for sharing it with us!

@OrlisMoonpie688 , great story! This week's challenge reminded me to tell the folks at my dentist's office how much I appreciate their friendliness and warmth. Seriously, they are so nice, they make getting dental work a pleasure (except for the work itself).3

Such an awesome gesture, @themedalist! Both the original post it posted and yours. I love that you also re-homed the vase.3 -

I absolutely LOVE this. Both the original post-it person and yours! What a lovely gesture by both!3 -
I try to do random acts of kindness every day but complimenting people's hair, clothing, smile, eyes...whatever I can. I say good morning with a smile to everyone, especially if they seem to be in a rush, and they always look surprised and smile! I let people go in front of me in line often and hold doors open. I leave my change in soda machines and imagine the smile on a child's face when they find that extra quarter.
Like others have said, these aren't things I'm comfortable really talking about. I just do them. Treat people how you would like to be treated... But I don't want the group to think I'm not nice to people so thought I'd post! LOL! I love this challenge and I think our world would be nicer if everyone just took the time to do one simple act of kindness each day, wouldn't it?5
