Victoza

Hi. I went on Victoza about 6 weeks ago, and I have noticed that my heart seems to be racing a lot.
Last night, I woke up feeling uncomfortable and my heart was beating at 104+ bpm. Other times I've tried to go to sleep but I can't because I feel my heart racing. I originally thought it was anxiety, but while anxiety can keep me from falling asleep, it wouldn't wake me up, like last night.
My average resting heart rate has increased to about 98 bpm. With 100 bpm being tachycardia, this is worrisome. When I checked my FitBit records, I see that the heart rate increase more or less coincides with my starting on Victoza.
I did call the doctor's office and was told I'd need to have a medication change. Just out of curiosity, though, has anyone else experienced this?

So, the Victoza was giving me tachychardia (accelerated heart rate), but it was lowering my BG. Now I'm on Januvia. My heart rate is back to normal, but I see no beneficial effect on my BG. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
I don't lose weight easily. I'm thinking of doing some sort of strict juicing diet to lose some weight, finally, and improve my BG.
Any insights are appreciated.1 -
I have never taken anything but metformin. The thing that really brought my glucose numbers down was cutting back on the carbs. I got my A1C down in the 5's, and I lost some weight with the LC diet. My doctor reduced my metformin and my next A1C was 5.3. I went off the metformin and in 3 months, my A1C was 5.9. I am still losing weight which helps all this, but for me the low carb diet was the secret to managing the glucose numbers.2
