We meet here to explore, share, celebrate, and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for May are:

Monday - Jimb376mfp (Jim)
Tuesday - Calvin2008Brian (Brian)
Wednesday - <if you start me up>
Thursday - <if you start me up I'll never stop>
Friday - Al_Howard (Al)

Topic: Frequency

How often do you actually think about LTL? Weekly at WI? Daily at MFP topic?
Several times a day? Every time you eat?

What is your Frequency. And how does it fluctuate and/or impact on WLJ?

I am a frequent flyer on GoaD and checkout LTL Topic daily. It helps me to think about different aspects rather than just what food/SP I am eating.

The frequency on LTL has helped me to notice small things that now do automatically as a habit.

The difference looking at other GoaDies on their WLJ helped me to see how we’re all trying to LTL but in different ways.

Hope you all visit the effort that @minimyzeme and other volunteers put forth a LTL post.

Visit LTL and add a comment and or take a moment to think about it.

I think about the LTL at least every meal. Does that mean that I do the right thing, eat the proper amount? or eat the proper portions to lose weight? That would be NO in capital letters.

Lately in the last 3 & 1/2 months I've been concentrating on a new business. I'm still working on it and will be for sometime. Is this an excuse? Yes of course but I just grabbed what I could when I could without the fore thought of any planning or so forth. Unlike planning in the new business I let the planning for my diet play 2nd fiddle. This was not a good decision to eat improper when I did it and knew it.

So what do I do about it and how do I change what I'm doing. To start with start tracking. Post everything that goes into my mouth. Really concentrate on paying attention to details. Then get motivated to again to staying on track by paying attention to the main thing losing weight and getting healthy. Getting the weight off that I gained back and then charging forward to losing the next 50 lbs 1 lb at a time. This can be fun and challenging at the same time.

Last thing it's participate in this board more than I've been doing lately. I've been looking at the LTL threads but haven't taking the time to post. Sometimes my thoughts get so wrapped up in this I go on and on which takes time. I do enjoy participating in the boards and have for years. My work for getting my weight off is far from being over.

So that's the plan I'm ready to get with it and get it done.

Pretty much all the time. I do weekly WW meetings which focuses me in that direction I think.

LTL is always on in the background. Some aspects are such ingrained habits that they don't require constant attention (packing my gym bag every night, weighing myself each morning, preparing my veggie stuffed omelete, packing my food for work). Other aspects still take some focused effort - for example I will be heading out of town for 6 nights at the end of the month. I need to figure out what food staples to bring as well as places that I can buy perishables. Part of the trip is a conference in Minneapolis (downtown) so figuring out where I can buy things to reheat in my room will take some effort.

While some may think I'm obsessed, I've also been at a normal weight since early 2012. I just had a friend email me yesterday inquiring about WW online as she packed on 10 pounds over the winter and none of her clothes are fitting. My daily obsession keeps my clothes fitting!

Congratulations! Since I hit my GW six weeks ago I am seeing Maintenance is just as important as losing, but nice to not have to lose.

All the time. When I'm doing it right, LTL is front of mind well in advance of each meal. Plan and track. Rinse and repeat.

Exactly, WHEN I'm doing it right. Too often I stray.

At least every meal. If I forget about it for long I find myself wandering back to the kitchen for another snack.

Now that I think about it, in terms of frequency and thinking about food, it’s the same as it’s always been.

I used to spend time deciding on whether I wanted leftover pizza or cookies for a snack. Why not both? There were some kind of LF or FF cookies. Ate half a box at a time. It’s was OK. They were FF, right?

I think better now. Frequency and time are about the same.
