Hello all. Sometimes I have a hard time getting all my fat in (or my calories). I do not go over my protein goal or my carb goal. Do I have to hit the 70% (in my case 99 grams) to lose weight? Yes or no please and why/why not explanations would be a great help. Thanks!

Not at all! hitting your fat, or calorie goal, if not hungry is counterproductive to weight loss. If not hungry, it's simplest to not eat (within reason of course) and let your body use your own fat stores for fuel instead of the dietary fat that you ate.3

Eating the fat is NOT what makes you lose fat. All you need is the low carb. Don’t go low fat. But you don’t need 70% for weight loss and with that goal you’d probably be better off around 60% with more protein.

Nope! You only want to eat enough fat that you stay satisfied between meals. The idea of keto is that you are burning fat for fuel instead of glucose. If doing keto for weight loss, that fuel should from your body's fat stores... (until maintainence, at which point you will need to give your body fat from food since your stores are at the level you want.)
Carbs = limit
Protein = goal
Fat = for satiety
Your body fat contributes that 70% fat ratio.2 -

I am personally of the opinion that meeting or exceeding the protein goal is more important than we think. Not everyone subscribes to this theory, and when I look at diaries, I see people WAY under the protein goal. They seem to be healthy and happy. I do know I don't want to lose muscle mass, and what I lose is intended to come from fat. So fat is the one I try to make sure I don't meet.

I also err on the side of more protein than fat. I try to look at fat as something that keeps me from eating carbs vs. a goal to hit.0

As long as you have extra fat, your body can nosh on that fat instead of added fats. Relax and just enjoy.1

Thank so much All! Every bit of the responses and information is going to make a world of difference. I will for sure make sure to maintain my protein intake, keep my carbs low, and only use fat to satiate me (and keep me honest). You all have been such great help! I appreciate all the info, the articles and the support.3
