Hi,
I am a runner - 20-30 miles a week. I am training for a half marathon and my 4th marathon at the moment. I work out with weights 3x a week, HIIT as well as run..total of 6-8 hrs of intense working out. A couple of years ago I weighed 159 at 5'6" and I am very muscular. Taht was a good weight for me and I was a size 6/8. I then got sick, took prednizone and gained 20lbs in 2 weeks.. which is where it all started..somehow I gave up and now I weigh 195!! I have still been running, which is hard so big. and I never lose. Since last November I have been here logging and tracking it all. I lost 5lbs and regained it. I can't seem to get anywhere. ONe of my friends recommended I just wasnt' eating enough. So I went from burning 2,600 cals and day and eating 1,300 to eating 1,800 last week. I gained 1 lb. Now what? Please give me some advice so I can get somewhere.

i would suggest taking at least 1 week of full cardio rest. you can stay at eating 1300 or a little more...and see what happens. ideal if you can manage almost two weeks rest. with a lot of cardio, you likely were undereating...0

It sounds to me as if you might need to do a reset, meaning eating at full TDEE for at least 8 weeks. I know that sounds scary, and there is a good chance, that you will gain some more weight. But if you want to get rid of the fat for good, a few weeks of gaining should not put you off.
If you are training so hard and were eating so little, your body needs some time to recover.0 -
1 lb of what?
You do realize with your workout types, you are asking your body to scream for storing carbs, glucose, which must store with water?
Your training is endurance cardio, and high aerobic/anaerobic levels - big % carb burn stuff.
So you think your body could be more than a little stressed out, burning more in merely exercise than you even eat, not even counting the amount it would like to burn by actually trying to make repairs and improvements from that exercise, or the calorie burn from daily life?
Guess what actually causes improvements to your body, the exercise or the rest?
Big huge diet amount, frequent intense exercise, food sensitivities/allergies, sickness, other daily life - all stress on your body.
Stress messes with hormones, and body to protect itself will slow way down, will eat up muscle, will fight again any fat or weight loss.
So your main mental review right now to see success - what is most important, and neither is right answer?
Do you want to lose weight?
or
Do you want to continue with training level you are at?
or
A little of both?
Keeping in mind the fact - Jack of all trades is master of none - and that totally applies to stress levels, to activities, ect.0
