Putting myself WAY out of my comfort zone

Going way beyond my comfort zone here folks. I added pics of the body I want to leave behind. Neck 17.5, chest 44, stomach 47", tri's 14.5, thigh 23, and calf 15.5.

I grew up on fast food and anything made of sugar. I would sit at the table trying my best to outlast my parents will to make me eat any vegetables. I never lifted a weight in my life. I would stay up late and sleep in until my body hurt so bad that I had to get vertical. I avoided any type of heavy work.

I came back to MFP a month ago really committed to losing this gut. Had no thoughts of lifting. That was until I found Stronglifts 5x5. It was suggested to me by two friends on MFP. Something about it struck me at my core. The owner seems genuine. The folks doing the program seem supportive and convinced it changed their life.

If you feel that you can offer support, motivation, or advice, please friend me. At 43, I need all the help I can get. I am watching the videos, listening to the mp3's, and reading a lot. What I need is contact with others who have been here.

My first day showed me just how little I can lift. Though it embarrasses me at this time, I know that I will improve. Just like my measurements will. I can't even squat with proper form. 20 lbs was difficult for me to complete 5-5's .

So if you want to watch the transformation of this pathetic body, that WILL occur, I look forward to your friend requests.

I've been where you are now,I may weigh high in the 150s but I was 257 when I decided to change it for the better and even though that was 10 years ago it still is part of me being at that deciding reality of imbalance of weight and casual effort of daily life. You can and you must keep it in your mind of why you decided to change things from the old ways to the improved new ways of adding strength and SL 5 x 5 is the PERFECT pathway to that. I am on week 8 and a very tough customer to convince, but the fact now that my weakest attribute, my leg mass and strength ,is now turning the corner to being a non issue and actually making gains much MUCH more than I expected, and I have 4 more weeks of my trial program and I hope to be surprised even more. So give it your best shot and step out of your comfort zone each week. You won't be sorry. :)
