A special hello to anyone embarking on a low carb high-fat diet, and to the ones who are already on this journey keep it going you have so much to gain. Before I went on the journey I was in a sorry state, I had diabetes 2 breathing at times was an effort, walking any kind of distance was too painful. my weight was 17 st 3lbs I am a male 5ft 8" tall and at the time I was 67 years of age. I went for my annual checkup with the diabetic nurse and my blood sugar was 19! So she said I was on the maximum metformin 500gx4 and it was looking like I would have to start having insulin injections, this frightened me enough to change.
I was lucky enough to come across a video on YouTube the Diet Doctor, and it convinced me my lifestyle was killing me. well, the good news is I am no longer on medication for diabetes, my blood sugar is averaging 4.5, I can now walk over distance pain-free, I am, no longer breathless, and my weight is averaging 11 stone 11 lbs, and I feel like a million dollars! I am 70 now I hope you will find my story encouraging. PS I had a hbc1 test, 3 months after stopping the medication and the result was normal yippee.

Saved my life too! In May 2017 weighed 235 lb. 5' 7". Age then 63. Bad knees 2 surgeries on one knee. Couldn't walk but the doctor said I needed to doing something to loose weight. But not much help on how! So I started read a lot about diets. So glad I found this one. Now I've lost 89 pounds and walking.6

@VivianRosser thanks for sharing your awesome success.
In 2014 at the age of 63 it became clear I was prematurely killing myself by the way I abused food and my then 16 year old twins were watching me lose ground month after month in mobility and health in general wondering it that was their future. Having AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis) for 40 years without knowing my diet was triggering it boggles my mind now but at least the damage is starting to reverse a bit and yesterday I was able to help my daughter haul some hay and get it into the barn and still move just fine today.
In my case cold turkey I left off food containing any added sugars and or any form of any grain. Now I eat all that I want and never go hungry just keeping daily carbs around the 50 grams mark.
No more using power chairs at theme parks and WalMart and I to can walk as far as I wish. While weight loss was not a goal of my this time around I did drop 50 pounds and have maintained that for three years now while eating all that I want and adding some muscle just because I move so much more since my pain is all but gone.
Keep up your great success. While I took a lot of health damage over the years I am happy many young people are starting to look at their Way Of Eating before doing so much health damage by eating in a way that works against their bodies like I did.6 -
