Going to be hot here the next few days. My outside exercise may be curbed until the weather gets cooler.
Still drinking the wine. I feel way better in the mornings than when drinking the hard stuff.
Enjoy your downtown vacation Syd!1 -
Friday night I only had 1/2 can of beer -who have I become??
My husband has been working outside rebuilding our pond, bad timing with it being so H-O-T here !!! Temps have been upwards of 100...lots of sweat going on!
Syd - an ice cream drumstick sounds delish! Enjoy downtown!!
Gary - the important question is red wine or white wine??0 -
We're going to revoke your lush card, Ann! You've really done well, I'm impressed.
Got lots of steps in and had a great time, but I'm avoiding the scale as I'm sure I'm up. Downtown was crazy with Cubs fans, pre comic-Con and gay pride. We met a lot of interesting people. I forget just how many tourists our city brings in from all over the world. Makes me appreciate where I live.
Hope everyone has a great week! I'm going to try to find my routine again. No more vacays until mid August so I have a month to get my act together. In the meantime we came home to an ant invasion so I'll be dealing with those little m'fer's today. They're everywhere0 -
Currently drinking merlots and pinot noir. Do any of you have any whites you enjoy? I am not into the sweet wines- prefer something a bit dryer. Any suggestions?
OK I see Ann doing very well! I am going to get serious and see if I can't jump start myself!
Today should be the last of our 90 degree days for a while. Tomorrow I will try and get outside and move my butt around!0 -
Sauvignon blanc Gary! New Zealands are my favorite. Brancott is my go to and it's like $10 in KY. Nobilo is a good one too. I also love dry rose' during the summer. There are so many and different vineyards produce every year so I couldn't even give a recommendation.
Oh and hi by the way. Been drinking as usual, taking my 0 on Monday and trying to not go bananas on weekends.
We go to Wilmington NC to my parents' on Saturday for a week (drive 1/2 way Friday) so we will be drinking plenty. I've really been trying to shed some fat so I don't want to totally blow it. Their club got a new fitness center so I plan on using that some because free babysitters.
Hope you're all having a great summer!1 -
Thanks for the recommendations Ashley. I will pick some up today!
Today will be the first day of getting back into it. I feel so much better when I am exercising and watching what I eat and drink!
Have a great week!

I second the Sauvingnon Blend - my fav is Oyster Bay...more of a grapefruit citrusy dry white wine...yummy!0
-
Got some of the sauvingnon blanc. Will give it a go tonight!0
-
Hope you enjoyed the wine, Gary! I prefer red wine, but if I drink a white it's almost always a Chardonnay from a warm climate because they are less acidic and more of a buttery finish than fruity. I used to love fresh, crisp wines like a Sauvingnon blanc, but in general my stomach can no longer tolerate them (old age problems)
So, for low acid white wines, in general, I seek out warm climates: California and Australia being tops and almost always Chardonnay.
Ended up at the brewery Tuesday night and woke up yesterday very sluggish. Quiet weekend ahead and I couldn't be happier about it.0 -
Thanks for the advice. The Sauvingnon Blanc was a little hard on my stomach. So I will try out the warm climate wines.
As for yesterday. Behaved most of the day. Blew it after dinner.
Will try again today!1 -
Hi all! Still here. I officially go back to work in 8\3\18. As long as the doc agrees on Monday. I miss you all and I am getting better.0
-
Robin- happy to see you are doing better! We have missed you!0
-
Hi Robin! So glad you're feeling better. :flowerforyou:
Hot as hell here this week so I'm not moving much. Hope everyone is doing well :drinker:0 -
Look at my cute grand niece (and husband and son too)!
Big family gathering yesterday. I drank champagne
Did manage to exercise last week. Guilted myself into it after seeing Gary and Ann log so much! 2 weeks until our vacation. I'm going to try to keep it up!
Hope all is well with you lushes! :drinker:
P.S. Sorry it's so big, I'm too lazy to figure out how to resize0 -
Great picture Syd! You have a nice looking family!1
-
Glad you're feeling better Robin!!
Syd - I love your new pictures
Gary - how was the wine??
My daughter and I drove out to Grand Rapids, MI for the color run this weekend. My first 5k
We also did an escape room - super fun! and a murder mystery dinner. We had a great time. My downside - once I was back home, drank 2 heavy duty Founders beers (10.8% ) and had not yet eaten...oh boy! Kind of rough ending to my weekend, but other than that - great weekend!!

The wines have been good! I prefer them over ice, not sure if that breaks wine protocol but with the temps in the 90s iced wine just sounds best! Still trying to get on track, mostly I have to not get down on myself for not doing my best.0
-
Congrats on the 5K Ann! I love the pic you posted with your daughter
Gary, I do ice in wine during the summer too. It's refreshing and (in my mind anyway) I drink less that way. No getting down on yourself! If today didn't work out the way I had planned I always tell myself tomorrow will be better. It almost always is0 -
Thanks for the encouraging words Syd!1
-
ACK! It's August already. Hope everyone is doing well.
I did ok this week. Managing my diet (and booze) but I definitely could be exercising more. I've got all next week to be good and hopefully drop a pound or 2 before starting vacay.
TGIF lushes! :drinker:0 -
Back at work. Back to the grind. It is too hot up here to do much in the afternoon. Doug goes in for shoulder surgery on his left shoulder on Thursday. LimeAde and vodka with ice has been my drink of choice lately. I still haven't gained back the 5 I lost on leave. That is encouraging.0
-
I Am starting to get my appetite back. I will probably gain back the 5 pounds,0
-
Best wishes to Doug on is shoulder surgery!
Glad to see you are feeling better too!
Have a great time on your vacation Syd!0 -
Hope Doug's shoulder surgery goes well, Robin! I'm sure you all remember how much I b!tched about my shoulder. Not fun.
Thanks, Gary! It's been in the 90s for about a week and I'm ready to cool off at the beach. Been pretty good and dropped a pound which I'm sure will come right back. But I do plan on lots of morning and evening beach walks...maybe that'll make up for the booze and food and limit the scale damage.
What's everyone else up to? :drinker:

Doug's surgery went well thank you for the well wishes. I have been doing a lot of top down driving lately. The sun is out so much this year. Although there were some torrential rain showers on Saturday. It is supposed to be back to sunny all week.0
-
Aloha all!! Gosh I have gotten to be pretty crappy about keeping up!!! I blame work 😉
We have been pretty consistently drinking most days of week. 2-3 a night but still making it for work outs so I don’t feel too bad!0 -
Aloha Kate.
Hi all,
today is Doug's birthday so there will be wine.0 -
Happy Birthday to Doug! Another Leo! My husband's birthday was Saturday the 11th, so alcohol was flowing... Glad Doug's surgery went well.0
