Keto Flu and diaralyte

I’ve had a banging headache for a few days despite trying to up my salt - just took a diaralyte (rehydrating sachet for post diarrhoea) and my headache appears to be gone
Not particularly great cause it does contain 3.6gm glucose but my headache is gone so I’m willing to take the hit on other carbs for the day - just thought I’d post in case anyone else is struggling - they contain a little potassium and salts so taste awful but it was definitely worth it in my opinion!

Oh, that's interesting stuff. (I googled it). Dioralyte. I've not seen it before though haven't looked and generally don't frequent that aisle in the stores but it is good to know such things exist. If not that specific product, there is probably something similar in the USA and elsewhere.
My general method of keeping sodium/electrolytes up is via salty boullion/broth. Sometimes I just lick about a half teaspoon hit of salt of my palm and wash it down with water.
Glad it helped you and thanks for sharing!0 -
Looks like you were needing a little potassium then. We largely don't recommend supplementing with potassium because too much can actually be dangerous. We usually get a lot of potassium through food which is not yet reported on labeling. However, even though I eat potassium rich foods, I personally need to supplement potassium sometimes or I get leg/foot cramps, really bad. And keep the electrolyte headaches despite my salt. I just plain don't keep electrolytes like normal human beings. So I make my electrolyte drinks with a little Nu Salt.
Ketoade
8-12oz water
Zero cal, zero carb water flavoring (like Mio, Crystal Light, or similar)
1/4 tsp salt
couple shakes Nu Salt (potassium chloride) (only added for non-responsive low-sodium headaches or muscle cramping)
Zero glucose, all the salts. Probably cheaper than the diaralyte.

Yeah we had diaralyte in the cupboard - paedilyte is the kids one I think - you’ll definitely have it in the US in some form - was surprised how quickly it worked to be honest - hoping it was a once off but if not I might look at getting some nu salt :-)0
