Having good results on keto after about a month as far as pain control, energy and mental clarity. No weight loss yet, blood sugar down though. Hoping to be able to get away with an easy walking program. I'd love to hear from others whose immune systems think they are the enemy!

I developed seronegative Sjogren's with CFS and possible fibro while losing weight on keto.
I was keto for 1.5 years. I didn't find that it helped the sicca symptoms (it actually made them worse), the fatigue, or joint pain at all. But I am so very happy that you're finding relief.

I've been keto about 3+ years. I have a few AI issues.

My hypothyroidism was not helped by going keto. My dose of natural dessiccated thyroid has actually gone up a bit while keto but it was easy to manage.

My celiac was unaffected. I've been GF for many years. TBH, I think keto might have been easier for me than many because I'm used to not being able to eat most available foods. ;)

I have a blood clotting issue (ITP) that has been controlled for years and had no change while keto.

I have arthritis. My hips are osteo, but I sometimes get arthralgias that come and go. Those arthralgias, which appear autoimmune linked but no one can explain, are less frequent the fewer carbs I eat. A good thing! My osteo (hips, knees, back - I'm pretty creaky for someone in their early forties) is mildly better while very low carb too. Another good thing. It never really goes away though.

Overall, I am much more able to walk and play due to a bit less pain and mainly better energy. If I'm not dragging, the (slightly reduced) pain doesn't hold me back as much.

I have had several diagnosed -itises where our body attacks itself: rheumatoid arthritis (went thru my toes one at a time), iritis (right eye blind 4 months), dermatitis, osteoarthritis (knee replaced). Been low carb since 2013 - but I don't know if that's why they're quiet, or if it's just a phase.

Am hoping this will keep to at bay, though. :ohwell:

I didn't mention having been gluten free for quite a while. That always helped some with my arthralgias and joint pain and has helped me keep my weight down. I do not have celiac disease fortunately. I thought it was interesting though when 23andMe's DNA result suggested a a familial predisposition for it. It does run in the family.

Five years is a pretty long time to go without symptoms. I would call it success!

Gluten does seem to bother so many with autoimmune issues... Sometimes I wonder if autoimmune issues are really just one health problem and the various diseases are just the symptoms you happen to display... How it manifested.
