Nice perk of LCD lifestyle--no hunger when switching time zones

I have had business trips with time zones pretty frequently in the last three years, and they have always been very tricky for me because I'd end up meeting an extra meal on the day of departure. Leaving on a morning flight, my stomach would be growling by 12:30 pm EST--which is only 9:30 am on the west coast. I would end up eating a second lunch.
This is my first trip to this time zone since starting keto and it's completely different...I had half a protein bar this time instead of a second lunch and a very light dinner (just some apps at a reception and wine.) And this morning, I was wide awake at 3 am PST but nothing was open until 6 am at the hotel, and I was able to wake up, get work done and actually use the gym (!) and felt totally fine! I also don't feel attacked by comfort food cravings like usual...this is definitely a good WOE if you travel!

I will be flying from Tokyo to Toronto next week -- booked a gluten free meal as they don't have a low carb option, hope it works. If not, I will just fast--and bingewatch movies...0

@camtosh.... unfortunately the gluten free meal often includes a fair portion of rice (I have to pre-order Gluten free or just bring my own (generally a salad from one of the airport take-aways). Good luck.0

We don't fly often but right now I'm sitting in the DFW airport (from RDU) waiting to see if our flight to Quad Cities is going to be delayed a 5th time. We were to depart at 10:45 and now it is a 3:10 flight.
All to say I skipped the free food offer. Not really hungry. No burning need to eat and since we'll miss the wedding we had planned to attend I won't be tempted by wedding cake either.2
