Happy Monday all! I love the Monday's when it's the day before I go home... not so much when it's the Monday's I have to drive for 9 hours to get home.
So I think I found my motivation! I watched/listened to endless YouTube videos yesterday from fitness ladies and the ones that especially helped me were a Motivation series from someone called "Love Sweat Fitness". Highly recommended. Although I knew all of the things she talks about, I think just hearing it from someone and explain it from their perspective really hit home. So last night after work, I went for a 30 minute walk outside with a coworker and then I came back and went to the gym and did some weights. I got back to my room and had a shower, washed my face, brushed my teeth and did some stretching. I felt great! This morning, I set my alarm for 4:40am and managed to wake up (even though it was difficult) and went to the gym for a walk/run on the treadmill, plus some cool down stretching. I feel fantastic! Definitely gotta keep it going.
Can't wait to hear how the rest of your weekends went. Sarah - hopefully the rain has stopped for you today. It's supposed to storm here today as well and tomorrow.

Sarah - I just logged into the help section and found this note. Thought I'd share in case you haven't seen it:
Fitbit Sync Delays and Interruptions
Monday, June 25th, 8:30am PST
Hi there,
Our apologies if you are experiencing any issues with Fitbit. Our team noticed an issue starting on Friday, June 22nd, with a delay in the sync between MyFitnessPal and Fitbit. Over the weekend, the issue worsened and some users may notice that no information synced during that time. We have fixed the issue with no data syncing, but we are still working on the issue of the delay in the sync.
Please also note that unfortunately, sometimes when there is an interruption the data for the day of the interruption can be lost. Our apologies for any issues this may cause.
We will continue to update this article as more information becomes available. Please check back for further updates.
Best,
MyFitnessPal Staff0 -
Well at least it's not just me! Thanks for sharing this. I have data for some days since the 22nd, and no data for others. Very spotty. And it sounds like some of the data are lost. Since I'm not supposed to eat back calories, this is probably a good wake up call. LOL
Have a safe trip home, Kelly. Check in if you can while you're there. You deserve a big gold star for the getting up and out and getting activity in before work time. I'm envious. That is so hard to do--at least for me. I was still watching a taped baseball game this morning at 1 a.m. Gotta stop that!0 -
Thanks Sarah! I'm a morning person all around. I enjoy waking up early, having a cup of coffee and getting the day started. I only like staying up when there's a real reason to stay up.. and watching hockey for me would be one of them, just like baseball to you. 2nd day in a row I woke up early and went on the treadmill this morning. I feel great! I will try my best to check in when I'm home. I'm going to set a reminder on my phone to check it daily and post a little something when I can.0

Have a safe trip home and yeah for you with the morning activity. I read somewhere how many times you need to do something consistently for it to become a habit. Would be interesting to see that again. I wonder if the article also mentions anything about how many times off your routine it takes for you to get out the habit of doing something? I think I'm wavering close to that. When I had my walking buddy, I left my desk and headed directly to the mall. Last night, I was walking the cul-de-sacs after 10:30 p.m. Hubby was with me except for last 15 minutes. I don't want to start putting it off that late as a routine. It's too easy to get tired and find an excuse not to put on the shoes and get moving.
And before my edit time is up, I thought I'd add that I've looked at my nutrient intake, and I am consistently low in protein and high in fat. I'm also consistently low in fiber. Time to take a closer look at those.0 -

Well, I wish I could say I was a good girl and followed my game plan...very minimally. So musta been something I ate last weekend that stuck around. but as I always say - a reduction IS A REDUCTION and I will take it an OWN IT!
Sheesh - loved your FB on the grandma and the swing. Looks like you had a great time.
Sarah- great job at trying to get everything done. 21 days to make a new habit and less than that to drop a habit (don't recall, probably 3 - haha).
Kelly, I know you're probably already on the road, but I commend you and your focus. I'm going to check out that you tube site. thanks.
I was a morning person and hubby's a night owl and now I'm neither. I do get up at 540 to get ready for work and I'm falling asleep at the table when sitting with hubby at the stroke of 10. Getting up any earlier means I'd never see hubby...hhhmmm... j/k I love to see him just before bed, and he gets home between 930 and 945ish, so seriously it's only a few minutes. I NEED my 7 hours of sleep or I'm not good or nice to be around. Just the way my body functions. If you can get that extra exercise in before your day starts - that's awesome. I used to do it that way when we lived in Cali and I had to get the kids ready in the morning. But hubby worked days then so we did have some evening time together. I was up super early and I'd go for a bike ride or to the gym.
Hubby got the rower fixed...neither of us know how exactly and we worked on it for an hour plus. but it is free. Sadly my tummy issues were very bad yesterday - I had to stay home. felt horrible. Though I did attempt a couple of sessions. 5 minutes on one and almost 10 on the next... hair appt tonight so maybe tomorrow. I have rice for today...that's about all I was able to keep in yesterday and it's still gurgling today. Down to 216 today (but I always use Monday's weight for weigh in day).0 -
Got my hair done last night. 3 hours. Ate a wee bit of Chinese while there. Tummy gurgled, but it stayed. Not going to risk much in food today. Staying on rice and banana and toast again today and finish Chinese tonight for dinner. Plan to go home and row for 5-10 mins. I have therapy in the am.

Well it moved in the right direction, but I was a bit bummed when I looked at my weight for the last week in June last year and it was 141.4. I must say, I do a stellar job of going nowhere!
But I am going to take the loss and be happy for that before Lois comes and beats me over the head with something! LOL
Lois, I got a chuckle out of that 3 days. But that's probably for men. For women it's probably only 2.
I'm having one of those anxious days with work, so popping in here was a nice retreat for a moment. I have that knot in the stomach feeling. And mentioning stomachs, Lois, you have more than your fair share of tummy problems. I hope this bout passes quickly. My hubby is having some issues that I think may be irritable bowel--not severe yet, thank goodness, but routine enough that I've suggested he make a note of them to see if they correlate with anything.
I tried to watch protein, fat, and fiber yesterday. I improved, but still didn't meet the goal set for me by MFP for two of them. Since meat tends to also have fat, getting enough protein without going over on fat is tricky. Fiber was a little easier since I love fruit and nuts. I actually exceeded my goal for that.
Well back to the grind. Will check back later.0 -
Great losses ladies! Impressive.
Again I managed to wake up and do 3 miles on the treadmill. I'm already over 12,000 steps and it's only 1pm here. We got our Costco run out of the way and now I'm at a physio appointment with Shawn. He pulled his hamstring at ball hockey a month ago and has been struggling with it ever since. He's hoping the physio and dry-needling will help...which it seems to be.0 -
Sarah - you are so right...you're lucky you're 3k miles away!! Accept and enjoy your successes!! Do you like fish? Maybe add fish as more of your proteins, your nuts for fiber are also contributors to the fat intake - I love them too, but the fat content sends me over. Lose that pit in your tummy feeling. I know it like you do and it's not helpful to our overall systems. Take care of yourself. Hope all is well with hubby. Dr. is sure mine is tied to the antibiotics I took in January, so upping my probiotics and yogurt intake. I really miss my veggies. oh sigh.
Kelly AWESOME JOB!!! You're kicking butt and passing names on the leaderboard. I'm sure you'll be bumping Doris down as soon as you upload connect again.
Sheesh - looking forward to your update today!0 -
You are so funny, Lois. I KNOW I'm lucky you're 3K miles away!
Great job, Kelly. You will have a nice loss next Monday for sure if you keep this up. I have to work on getting to bed earlier and up earlier. I'll let your outcomes motivate me!
Lois, I have given up nuts for snacks because it's too hard to eat just a few. Now I just include a small amount in a salad. Last night we didn't feel like cooking so we had Trader Joe's lasagna, and I made a homemade version of Panera's strawberry poppyseed salad (without the chicken). I had fresh arugula, tomatoes, cucumbers, and strawberries from the farmers' market. And now they sell Panera's poppyseed dressing in the refrigerated part of the produce section in the supermarket. The dressing is a little high in sugar, but it's low fat and low calorie, so if I watch sugar in other areas, I can fit it in.
I know you can relate to the knot in stomach. Somehow knowing that helps, although I don't want either of us feeling like that!
Sheesh, my friend, it's our weigh-in day! Hope you're home and getting settled back in.0 -
Thanks! Just finished on the treadmill and time for a few weights now. Shawn and I are going golfing later this morning and we're walking the 9 holes. Should help a bit with my steps.
I agree with Lois. Nuts are fantastic! I have a hard time keeping them to just a few, so I find that only taking a handful out and then putting the rest away immediately helps a lot. If I left the whole bag out, I'd probably eat the whole bag lol what about avocado? That's great good fat too.0 -
Kelly - have fun golfing! Avocado is the same as nuts...so I "try" to buy small ones because, well, let's be real - I'm not going to eat 1/4 of one and leave the rest to get brown and mushy. So yeah, I keep them small and cut them only when hubby is home to help consume. They were one item I ate a lot of when doing the keto plan with Lance. They are a healthy fat, but too much of it is still a lot of fat. So buy smaller unless having a party!1

Hi, Ladies. Happy Friday. Sheesh, you seldom miss a weigh-in day unless you're out of town, and I thought the kids were coming in next week. Hope you're okay.
I was frustrated this morning to have my weight up a pound when I've actually had a deficit the past few days. Perhaps it's the salty corn tortilla chips I had last night.
I walked outside from 9:30 until 10 last night, and it was not too bad, but we are on the cusp of a heat wave, so any activity for the next few days will be in the pool or in the air conditioning.
Lois, I hope the tummy is much improved, and Kelly, enjoy your time at home. I will check in again sometime over the weekend.0 -
Great job on the night walking Sarah! Hopefully it doesn't get too hot there. We're pretty hot here as well. We went to a baseball game last night (I thought of you) and the kids loved it. Today Shawn is working so I have the kids by myself. We'll be doing something active today, just not sure what. Have a great weekend!0

Baseball is such fun! My Nats hit 7 home runs last night! And I love that it's more of a family sport. Last time we went to a professional football game, the drunks around us were more than I could take. I ended up walking in the clubhouse to get away from one particularly annoying fellow.
And mentioning annoying, the scale was up even more today. I absolutely have to figure this out.0 -
Hey ladies! I got back from Portland, hit the ground running to get food prepared for this coming week with all kids and grandkids coming for a visit. We'll be at the cabin AND at the house for fireworks etc.
I had a chance to read some of your posts, but not all. But I wanted to check in to say "hey" before we pick up my son, DIL, and their three kiddos from the airport. Dinner is cookin, and I'm excited to hold the babyI did weigh today:
Last time: 132.8
Today: 131.21
