How does WW calculate SmartPoints in foods with more than one ingredient that we buy at restaurants and stores? Does WW simply run them through a SmartPoint calculator (e.g., https://cmx.weightwatchers.com/nui/calculator2)? Or does WW first subtract out the numbers from the zero point foods before running the calculation?

It calculates based on the cumulative calories, fat and sugar of the non-zero foods based on their algorithm. For instance, a chicken soup that I buy used to be 5 points for the whole can. It dropped to 4 points after the new freestyle program I guess due to chicken being zero.

If you're buying something with a nutrition label, you can plug in the calories, fat, sugar, protein into their calculator and it will spit out the points. Otherwise, you can guess at what's in it and create a recipe for it that will calculate the SP per serving.

For entries that are put into the app by WW the zero point ingredients are not counted. For user added entries they are just calculated accusing to the smart points formula and may be higher.
