Good morning everybody!

Wow, can you believe that we are rolling towards the end of July!? Where does time go!!

Hope you all had a great weekend.

@mamainthekitchen your walk by the ocean and seeing horses sounds beautiful!!

We are near the water on the lovely Connecticut coast, but it is quiet there and lots of rules about what is allowed on the beach and what is not. i.e., no cars or dogs. There is a parking lot for cars and dogs can roam around the park that is next to the beach. Very pretty. :)

Hope everybody had a nice weekend. Hope your week is a little less crazy this week, @KateNkognito!!

Light day today. Same drill for Thursday. Off to fill up my water cup. Oy! See you all soon!

Glad the announcements are fixed now.

Doing well...I doubt I'll get any fasting done this week. Still sticking to the keto...for the moment.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words last week. Good luck this week.

Good morning all. Hope all is good where you are.

Not much new here. Very humid, hot and a little overcast, so yeah a great hair day / week. LOL

Light day went well yesterday. No issues. Got to the gym and did the treadmill. Had done the bike on Sunday, so might try and do that again tonight if one is free. Only issue I find with the bikes is the WiFi is a bit of a dead zone where they sit. So difficult to watch my Netflix or access the internet at times. Like when you are watching something but it keeps cutting out. GRRR!

    Thanks @orlcam!
Good deal. Enjoy your week. Thanks for the kind words back. :)

See you guys soon. Have a great day!

I’ve had a couple of disastrous eating days! Today will be a fast day..., I’m tired hot irritated bloated cranky .... did I mention cranky!

Yes living by the ocean is lovely with the breeze during all this heat lately. Still feeling it though.

Meg don’t forget podcasts... you can download them with WiFi then listen to them without it.

Off to make some green tea and water the plants!

    Our poor little group...
I wonder if this type of fasting has fallen out of fashion or there's another group out there stealing our thunder.
Anyway, no true fasting this week, as expected with the family home, but I've been sticking to keto.

@mamainthekitchen hope your week is going better now.

@Meghan509 thanks for everything you do...keeping us going. You too mama.

You ladies have a good weekend.

    Good morning!

Sorry to hear about your rough few days of eating. @mamainthekitchen Hope your light day went well yesterday!

Good point on the podcasts and downloading stuff to the phone / tablet. There are so many interesting things to listen to and yet sometimes I seem to forget! The other day I was "saved" by a podcast when the WiFi crapped out and Netflix wouldn't work. A podcast uses up less WiFi than a movie, so it worked.

Not much happening here. Had a good workout yesterday on the bike. Hoping it is not too busy tonight so I can grab a treadmill.

Hazy, hot and humid here which also makes me a little cranky. LOL The good news so far is Saturday through Monday is supposed to be sunny and pretty. Phew. I need good weekend weather to recharge the batteries.

See you all soon. Have a GREAT day!

Hi all nice to see people are still around. I'm still on it and have having 2 fast days a week but not loosing a lot as my focus is more on my kids being off school etc and my exercise routines faulter. My weight has somewhat stabilised and i'm not doing very well in shifting the last 7llbs but at least i'm still on a plan and balancing out to not be putting it on.
Anyway weather is gorgegous and so salads are playing a big part. Hope everyone is well.

Thanks for the mentions Orlcam.... so fascinated by keto yet just can’t go there in full force.... I would be quite interested in your cholesterol numbers. The last few weeks have been a little upset as The son has been diagnosed with diabetes. ! Ya, so a lot to take in. I personally don’t think this is right, but we’re having tests regardless. He’s had stomach\ digestion issues for a few years now... no one listened to me saying there is something wrong..so pale and thin. He doesn’t have the usual symptoms because he is really thin.... I’ll spare details but I know it’s a road untraveled in my family, so I’ve been reading all I can...etc. “sigh”.....I browsed the candy isle during the grocery run today and bought nothing! I felt so bad for my son I couldn’t even think about eating sugar. He has more tests to go , but so far they’re telling us yes he’s diabetic. Again, sigh.

Sorry to be downer....I’m sure you all understand , it’s a matter of information and knowledge, so I’m reading and downloading everything I can....then relax and acknowledge the millions of others that live everyday with this.

    ‘Cest la vie’

Happy fasting people! Meg, I hear ya on the cranky dept. while hot and humid.... hmm that sounds weird, hey maybe even not very appropriate !!!! Hahaha...

and @sjgold123 thanks for popping by, we’ve been missing you and all the other regulars... hope continued success for you! I’m hoping to continue the whole program once I figure out my new role as a diabetic’s mama!

    Cheers people!
    Sorry for the rant...

    Good morning everybody!

@orlcam sorry I didn't see your post yesterday! Looks like we were both postin' at the same time! LOL

@mamainthekitchen sorry to hear about your son and his diagnoses. I am assuming that this is Type I diabetes, correct? I used to date a guy who was a diabetic. He said that when he was diagnosed as a kid with Type I, he was really, really, thirsty and had been having some digestive issues if I recall. Basically that is our lovely pancreas saying "okay I am done". He was also a person who was very thin naturally. Couldn't put or keep weight on. If I am correct, I believe Type I is hereditary but it skips a generation. So you and your husband probably wouldn't have it but you may have a parent that does? I am no Dr. and don't play one on TV. Your Dr. and Specialists are the best place to get good information. Both my Mom and Step Dad have Type II diabetes and in their case it is due to poor eating habits and lifestyle. Sending you hugs!

Hi @sjgold123 sounds like you are busy and good! I can totally relate with summer being busy and with children home from school, even more so! Glad you are still plugging along with your WOE. Hope it goes well!

Yes, the thread has been slow. Could be that people are not following healthier WOE's of eating (notice how I didn't say the word DIET) due to vacations, kids home for the summer, etc. I can relate.

I am still strugging with little to no loss and spent pretty much most of the afternoon and evening yesterday feeling hungry or I should say "hangry". Not a good feeling.

I am going to change stuff up again. Been losing and gaining the same pound or two each week. Getting old... I am toing to eat less calories everyday - 1200-1300, exercise, and try to eat a bigger dinner so I am not tempted in regards to evening snacking. Will throw in a little intermittent fasting as well. So that's all.

Hope everybody has a good Friday and weekend. Will plan on checking in over the weekend. Have a great day.

@mamainthekitchen If he has type I then I don't know what the options are...it's the more serious form that usually requires insulin injections. Keto combined with some fasting erased all of the symptoms of type II for me. That may not be the case for everyone obviously. I have always had decent cholesterol levels, but since doing keto that may have changed. My wife and I will probably go get checkups in the next month or so; I'll let you know if anything is out of the ordinary.

Mosley had a video where he talked about his issues with type II and how 5:2 helped reverse it... @jknight001 linked to it in one of our sticky threads...I think this is it:

Hey, all! I just finished my classes for the summer. Three weeks off before fall classes start and I go back to school as a para. It is going to be busy! BUT I got on the scale and I am just a little bit up from two weeks ago. :)
This board gets really quiet in the summer. I am sure folks will be back in the fall.

@mamainthekitchen I am sorry about your son. We have several students at my school that have Type 1 diabetes. Your son's diagnosis sounds like one of them. They were in Kindergarten and over Christmas break passed out and it turned out it was diabetes. The student is doing fabulously now and looks and feels much better. Hug to you and prayers.

@Meghan509 I just read an article that said that lowering calories can actually lower your metabolism. Your body is smart enough that it just cuts down on its expenditures. Fasting actually ramps your metabolism back up. You might consider a break even amount for regular days to go with the fast days. Maybe give it a try for a few weeks and see?

@sjgold123 Good to see you again! You could just make that last 7 pounds your friends and you are all good! ;)

Off to go catch up on all the things I haven't been able to do in the last few weeks, like laundry and dusting. I tell ya, I live a really wild life!

Thanks all you, Orlcam, Meghan, kate ... thanks for your thoughts and mentions & the video too, Orlcam... very interesting!

My son diagnosed fairly quickly as type 2, is 21 and pretty darn sedentary after many years of every sport in every season... from 4 to about 16 yrs he played everything, then he stopped and we can’t get him to move except to work & school. I’ve been trying to fatten him up for years feeding him tons of pastas, potatoes/yams, breads, ice creams, full fat yogurts & all kinds of sauces.....everything that you shouldn’t feed a type 2. His blood sugar isn’t off the charts high, but it’s not normal apparently, he’s been on a pill that helps bring it down and these last four days I’ve fed him very low carb and low glycemic foods and so far it’s helped. Dr appoint in morning so crossing fingers that his diet and lack of excercise is to blame... but he still needs to be checked out for his intestinal track.. I want him checked for celiac because in my opinion he doesn’t have all the diabetic symptoms except lethargic/fatigue. And there is no history of diabetics on either side of family!

Well enough about that, sorry to rant here about a non 5:2 issue. But I appreciate your thoughts.

Kate enjoy your break!! Goodness know you deserve it!!

Keep at it everyone! Some days it’s more of a struggle than others!! I’m certainly watching what I’m eating but not logging and only one fast last week. It’s very warm here so cooking has been over the bbq every night!
