Counting the Months

As we know, menopause officially occurs when we've been 12 months without a period ... but what about spotting? Does spotting count as a period?
I made it to 3 months with nothing, and then a few days of spotting.
Can't wait to get to 12 months period free!! It's been almost 40 years of despising every single one of them. And it didn't help that exercise (long distance cycling) triggered 2 each month.

I'm at almost 2 years now. I still occasionally spot (usually when I tweak my bio-identical progesterone). My OBGYN says light spotting doesn't reset the clock.1

2 years is for those under 50. It's just a year for those older.
I counted spotting, since it was heavy.0 -
I'm 51, so I'm hoping to get to the 12-month mark and that's that.
My spotting wasn't overly heavy, so it's nice to hear that spotting doesn't reset the clock!1
