These two pretty much contradict themselves....do we eat whole grains, beans or not...I am stuck not able to lose 10 lbs.

You need a calorie deficit to lose weight, so eat less than you are burning. How you get there and what you eat is up to you.
The last 10lbs can be tricky and masked by water weight. Make sure you are logging accurately.. weighing all solids and measuring all liquids, everyday. If you just started a new exercise program you could be retaining water. Have patience and stick with it.6 -
Do you have a food scale?
Do you meticulously use it?
Accurate logging+ calorie deficit will help you lose the 10lbs
