I know some GoaDies are on Maintenance. Why are you still here posting?

I made GW March 2018 and Lifetime WW May 2018. GW 184, Joined WW 1/17/13.

I made my personal GW range 179-184 and have been 181 in area for two months. My SW 376 CW 180.8 Lost 195#

My WI day is Thursday but have not posted on MFP GOAD WIs because it’s not the same as Maintenance vs Losing

I do post on MFP board for Goal Weight Maintenance board for accountability and track avg weight by each month.

Happy to be on Maintenance. It helped me learn about Maintenance from other GoaDs who taught me:
1. No Finish Line
2. When you reach Goal Weight just keep doing what you have been doing.

How is your Journey while going on Maintenance?

I’d have to find my paperwork, but pretty sure I made Lifetime 9/2006. I post on here and the Motivation and Support board. I don’t want to gain weight.

I not only stuck with GOAD after making Lifetime, I kept going to WW meetings almost every week. Only stopped when we moved 1500 miles in January, 2017. 10+ years of meetings. I think continuing the meetings saved me. Believe I had 8 years at maintenance the day I showed up at the meeting unsure that I would make the 2 lb WW GW cushion. I hit it right on the nose. Returned to tracking that day and started losing again.

The first thing I noticed about WW was the revolving door. I vowed not to get in it. Regaining is a serious problem. I don’t think I could muster the strength to lose much.

TOL has regained her Lifetime status, but is still trying to lose more. I've been maintaining about 25# over my goal
or a couple ou years. TOL says I'm costing her money. :)

I've been at or below WW goal weight since February 2012. I've never, ever had this long of a period of weight stability in my entire life. 11 months was probably the longest when I lost 130 pounds back in 2002-2003.

Staying connected with other like-minded individuals (through GOAD and a couple of other online groups) is what I was missing in my previous weight maintenance attempts. Even though I haven't gone to WW meetings in several years, I still do my LT WI each month. That accountability helps keep me from regaining. I did have several months last year where I was sweating those weigh-ins and considered skipping the month. But I knew from my past history what the outcome of that would be.

Still go to WW and these boards. Helps my focus I think. I too have gained and lost more than I weigh over the years . I don't want the revolving door or new wardrobes.

Jim, I believe you answered your own question.

"2. When you reach Goal Weight just keep doing what you have been doing."

All my previous times I lost weight I NEVER thought about keeping it off.

2015 was my goal to not gain after losing 100#
After Losing -80# (2016-18) I made GW now staying there is my goal. Learning to accept that it’s still easy to gain is a constant reminder.

I earned LT in 2015. My original intention was to ring the "GOAL" bell, then go back to happily ever after (like I thought I was before joining WW). As I read many of the GOAD archives shortly after joining, it slowly sank in that was foolish thinking.

When I was approaching goal, I started asking here about how to approach maintenance. The consensus seemed to be to keep doing what I did to lose. GOAD was integral to my loss. You all helped me avoid a lot of pitfalls. Even though I'm comfortable where I am now and could probably function without GOAD, I really don't want to as long as it stays active.

I'd like to say I'm "on maintenance" but that would indicate I was following some sort of program or plan. It would also mean I was maintaining a level weight when actually I am edging upward. Guess I miss WW's Points Plus program and my regular weigh-ins. That structure was good for me. I'll get back to regular posting here on Goad to recapture some of the old magic.

First time I reached Goal was 2013 after a year on plan. After drifting slowly back up over a few years I got serious this January and lost last 2 pounds back to maintenance in March. Still going to meetings and still tracking. I need structure and accountability or I will drift away into obesity.
