Weekend Win - how do you do it?

I know a lot of people say or write that they stick to their plan all week and are pleased with their choices...only to fall down on the weekend and undo their healthy choices as it relates to weight management on the weekend.
How do you manage your weekend in this context? Do you typically feel positive about your choices come Monday morning or do you regret them? Do you feel you need to change anything in order about how you deal with weekends with respect to your weight management goals?

I'm up early as usual because it's become my usual time to walk a few miles before most of the rest of the world gets going. For me, that aspect of the weekend is irrelevant--it's another day on my plan. In fact though, I try to treat the weight management aspect the same every day. There are some caveats though...
If I know I have some kind of an eating event coming up (like last weekends fancy-schmancy Sunday brunch with family from out-of-town), I'll start adjusting my intake a couple / few days ahead of time. That way, I'm fine using my weekly WW points as a cushion. For that particular meal, I ate smart ahead of time (e.g. WW zero-point foods). In fact, the brunch itself had a good array of fresh fruits, tasty salads, eggs, smoked salmon, and a few other things that were quite compatible with my goals. In gettng my fill of that stuff, I managed to stay 'topped off' most of the rest of the day. I also had zero-point food for dinner.
More typical weekends though, I tend to just stay the course. I pick away at my weekly points through the week (WI is Wednesday) and often use some more during the weekend without going too crazy. I include a few beers throughout the week including the weekend, but rarely more than one a day, if that. That's quite a change from how I did things back in the day and probably a big contributer to coming out ahead Monday morning.
All in all, most weekends it seems to work out well. Maintaining the weight loss is important to me. I really don't fret about a few pounds but don't want to go back to the way I used to be. That right there gives me the motivation I need to be mindful of what I do over the weekend.0 -
To me weekends are like during the wk. I am retired so nothing really changes. It's not often I do a picnic/party's but when I do I try to moderate myself not to over indulge.
I have my anxiety's mostly under control now, due to the help of Phycho therapy so that helps me to be more mindful of my choices.
I am still in the need to lose bracket so I am being more careful of how much I consume. I don't indulge nearly the way I did in the past.0 -
I usually fail. Not as had as back in the day, but really have to reel it in all week to make up for the weekend. With a Friday weigh-in.......0

Since my true foes are boredom and mindlessness, it's even more important for me to track on the weekends if I want to be successful. I never worry about big events because those generally are not my Waterloo. If the food is that enticing, I just accept that caloric intake will be higher for that meal. Often, though, the food may be good but not impossibly irresistible. So I focus on the social aspects of the event.
Right now I'm also focusing on a different undesirable behavior in that I tend to chew with my mouth open. Working on changing this has forced me to take smaller bites and take more time to manage the food once it gets into my mouth. Interestingly, when I tried to focus on slower eating and smaller bites as a weight to manage my weight, I failed miserably. But for chewing with my mouth closed? No problem.1 -
Friday night is DW and mine steak night. We also like to have what we call date night on Friday noght to just do the things we like to do together. We both like steak but sometimes it's Salmon. To go to movies on Friday night or any night or afternoon has gotten so expensive it's taken the fun out it for a long time. I say this to say that Friday night is the beginning of the weekend but most times I get right back on track the next day just like a holiday. Really for all that said I don't really splurge that much I just eat more than 3 oz of beef and if it's Salmon I will go for more anyway.
We're not party people and don't drink alcohol so we don't have to worry about getting in trouble with that so it's mainly about the choices we want to make over the weekend as it goes forward. I'm always in the loss mode so I'm very conscious about everything that goes in my mouth as in tracking. Occasionally yes I will regret my weekend choices on Monday but that's another issue that I have to mentally deal with and move on because it's in the past and there's nothing I can do about it. I can however learn from my mistakes and make changes to not do that again.
