Is there a standard ratio or do you have to play with it like 1unit to 15 carbs, 1 unit to 5 carbs? and does it matter if it is Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner? I'm so frustrated with this s--- that I told my wife last night maybe I just shouldn't wake up in the morning. I can't think of anything I detest and hate more then trying to figure out this Diabetes. Thanks for listing to my rant.

Well you're 100% correct diabetes SUX!
It took 32 years before I got myself under great control.
I got involved in LCHF, so so. Now I'm just doing
very low carb, normal protein & no special mind to fat.
I still use a little insulin daily & Metformin
but dumped most of my meds.
Trying to figure carb ratio & +/- corrections before meals
was never fun, I don't have to do that anymore.
Keeping to this way of eating I don't have to test my blood nearly as often.
Next month medicare will cut me back to 3 tests a day.
At this point it will work out ok for me.
For me exercise is the biggest hassle. You wouldn't believe it but
my sugar # goes up during & crashes a few hours after.
I've read it's part of being VLC.
Best of luck on your diabetes journey.

I have never been on insulin. I started keto within a month of diagnosis and got my A1C down enough (from 12.8!) that my doctor reduced and then stopped my metformin. I have been off diabetes meds since Juanuary of this year, and an A1C in July was 5.6. I am staying with the keto diet to manage the glucose levels.2

You're not alone, after exercise I have to wait 45 too 60 minutes before my glucose returns to normal. Jim0 -

Take a deep breath. There is a lot to learn, and you will find a lot of crock on the internet regarding diabetes, but it is a manageable disease once you get your diet, exercise and meds all dialed in.
You ready should get up in the morning. Spend a bit of time each day learning how to handle the disease and do the best you can, viewing each day as a new day, no matter what happened yesterday.
You need to coordinate your medications with your medical team. There are different
levels of insulin dependence and different kinds of insulin; a blanket response on the internet may or may not apply to you. If it does, it was pure luck.0
