Is exercising necessary?

My coach gave a plan 4 gaining weight, for meals and exercise. But I have so much on my plate n doing exercise takes time, do I have to do that?

    Technically, you can gain weight without exercising. However, if you want to gain weight in a healthy manner, you need some exercise. Strength training will build muscle (which weighs more than fat, so bigger gains long-term) and helps prevent bone density loss. Exercise also increases your appetite and improves your mood.

    If finding time to exercise is the issue, you can break the exercises up throughout the day or mix them into other activities. For example, you could do squats or a wall sit while brushing your teeth.
