Why GOAD if you don't routinely participate?

Many of us sign in on the roll call thread each morning but far fewer participate in the threads. I'm curious about those of you who sign in but don't routinely join in the threads (or start your own threads) get from this community.
I don't mean to be pointing fingers (too much), but if you would, please share why you're here if you're not a participant.

That's easy for me to answer. GOAD is the tiniest of threads that I am holding on to. Checking in daily is a habit that I don't want to let go of. I don't post in the LTL threads anymore because I am not living the lifestyle. I don't start any threads because I have nothing constructive to offer.1

A good place to start answering your question comes straight from the Roll Call narrative itself: "Many of us feel the need to remain connected by just signing in on a daily basis. We may have a lot to say or very little." I have been a Goadie since 2011. I have posted a lot over the years but with few (if any) newbies to help the board has lost a lot of why I used to write. What do I, specifically, get from Goad today? It is a reminder to think about weight management and the journey I took to get where I am today. It gets harder and harder to stay on the straight and narrow as my WW days get further in the rear view mirror. Goad gives me a tie to those days.2

I don’t want to let go and at the same time, I don’t want to jump back in, at least not yet.0

Well if you have been part of GoaD for a long time, there isn't much new under the sun in the posts. Sometimes, to me, it seems like the topics on LTL are often revisits to old topics that are rehashed from time to time. But sometimes I read it and want to think about it a bit and forget to revisit. I have been trying to do better though. In the end, the old GoaD I loved is a thing of the past. Social Media now offers all sorts of groups to check in with each day.0

I’ve also been around a long time. I was a regular poster back in the day when I was doing things right, but really slowed down when I went back to my old ways (and weight). I absolutely did not feel comfortable giving commentary, and especially not advice, given my set of behaviors.
Now that I am back in the game, I feel much better about being more active and posting.0 -
One thing anyone can post about are things that catch your eye as being positive ways to lose weight and/or things that are inspiring. This doesn't require giving advice. Commenting on such posts are good ways to participate...if only to say you agree/disagree with the information.

Way back when I use to be a lurker reading posts to get info and was afraid to comment. Finally when I did a post and got responses it changed the way I felt and here I am today being inspired and still generating info and asking questions that I need help with that helps me through life and my journey.
The members on Goad have helped me also with hard times in life and I am a better person because of that.
Yes there are times I sign in and read every post and not answer because I don't have anything to input or I'm just not sure how to answer.0 -
I am a regular poster for the Roll Call but some days there is not enough time for me to get back and comment or contribute simply b/c I am really that busy. In fact I'm way too busy for my age but I like it that way. So I have been volunteering for days on the LTL but I gotta say it's difficult since 2010 to come up with subjects that haven't been spoken to in some way or fashion. I've tried on short occassions to go over to connect and for the life of me I can't connect. I'm sure b/c they have tons of likes and what nots. I just really don't particularly care for the FB type of platform where you post everything about yourself and others give you a whoorah or something like that. I do like the threads that give you something to think about and a few folks have been chiming in lately and posting some great post. I like checking in as part of a small amount of accountability as far as accounting for being there. For now I'm hanging in and hope the GOAD board will continue to be around.

Thanks all--I appreciate your responses. I too feel sometimes like so much of the topic has been said and resaid. However, I also find over the course of my four years here (not long compared to some of you) that I have revised thoughts on some of the old topics based on experience or revised thinking.0
