Thank you to all of you who have, and who continue to provide motivation and valuable information! I’ve quietly been paying attention.

After following these threads closely, and tweaking my eating for the past year, I’m down 63 pounds and just completed my blood work. I’m planning a 3-month trial to GO OFF a statin medication..... and had my cholesterol panel completed for a new baseline.

I’m surprised my total cholesterol WENT UP with this way of eating..... but bacon, butter, etc....

Here are my results. I welcome ANY feedback. Thanks.

It isn't unusual for LDL to go up a bit. It does that in some low carbers. The question is, IMO, should that be a concern when your triglycerides, HDL, and cholesterol HDL ratio is all optimal?

I would ignore your total cholesterol. Even if your LDL had not gone up a bit, your higher HDL would have bumped you into the high range. ;)

Your LDL is not too high, just 16 above normal. With everything else being so good, and knowing that LDL does not have strong correlation to heart disease, especially in women as we age, I wouldn't worry about it.

Now if you had high BG and tri's, and low HDL, I might worry about it a bit. A bit... If you are worried about LDL, replacing some fats with polyunsaturated omega 3 seems to help lower LDL a bit. Not fasting before your tests will often lower it too.

Congratulations! I think that looks REALLY good. :)

I'm not sure how accurate any of that is unless you have been weight stable for at least 6 months...my understanding is that the tests are unable to distinguish between actual cholesterol and the fatty acids that result from the metabolism of fatty tissue during weight loss...so, if you have lost weight, then the results may be skewed because you have metabolized fat circulating in your body and that looks just like cholesterol to the tests.

I thought there's very little evidence that cholesterol levels are linked to heart disease (or at least increased mortality rates.)

You might find this interesting.... Statins do not work in women like they do in men. This has been known since 2007 and even a bit earlier...
