We meet here to explore, share, celebrate, and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for November below:
Monday - Imastar2 (Derrick)
Tuesday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Wednesday - Jimb376mfp (Jim)
Thursday - EliteCoachKal (Kal)
Friday - savignr (Bob)
Today's Topic: Daylitght Savings Time
Does the Daylight Savings Time effect your LTL journey habits? If so how do it do that.
Bonus Question: Moving into that time of year weather effecting anybody yet?

It's hard to say as to whether daylight savings time effects me but I do know that something seems to be different. Not positive but I seem to think I'm hungrier at night lately.
Weather in Georgia this Monday is terrible today. Rainy, cold but at least no ice or snow but going to be wet all day and possibly tomorrow for a while. This illiminates pretty much any outdoor activities. Couped up in the office except for one outside of my office apointment. So weather is what it is and we all just have to deal with it just like any other day.

Thanks to it being light around the time I should be leaving the house, I actually got more activity at the fitness center before work than I have in many weeks. I'm very much an early, early bird.
Even though it was cold both days this past weekend, it was dry so I rode my bike ~65 miles each day. I have all the winter gear so was very comfortable both days (Saturday started at 23 degrees, got to 30 degrees, Sunday started at 30 degrees, got to 41 degrees). Bonus was much less traffic on the multi-use paths that I ride. But there were hardy souls out both days!

No real effect here, other than the first day or two adjusting to the meal hour change. And convincing my dogs it is not their feeding time yet. They are not impressed by DST.
Weather here has been holding out, so I've been getting in my daily walking. Supposed to drop into the 30's next few days, so I'll have to bundle a bit.0 -

I'm rereading my earlier post and just LOL at my typing of the bold part above. I donot talk like dat whoops! like that. Just having fun here with a rainy day in Georgia. Back to your regular scheduled programing.

DST is better for us, as we're not early risers, and like having it lighter later.

First week messes my mind. Keep thinking it’s REALLY an hour off,
Biggest change telling Sadie dog it’s too early to eat, she wants to eat not on DST!0 -

Not so much, other than its alignment with Western NY winters. I'm an early-morning person anyway, tend to get a lot done that time of day. These days, much of that is paper-work and I don't mind the daylight savings mix of dark and light so much.

It is, but only because it's been a very dark and wet Fall. That season is normally one of my faves and since I'm trying to complete a move (still), I was hoping and counting on decent days even more this year than usual. Not to be, I guess. Therefore, the season is bumming me out a little.
That said, I'm trying a couple new things this year. One is attitude. I realize just like food choices, I actually have mood choices too. With mindfulness, I'm working at changing from my kneejerk depression for Seasonal-affective disorder (SAD)--which I used to think was a bunch of hooey--for something more positive. I'm also just starting my use of a specially designed light to alter my mood in these dark, dreary days. I'm on day 2 with it so can't tell yet whether it's had any positive effect. (For the record, in the past, I've pretty much dismissed them as another gimmick, but someone gave it to me as a gift.) I figure it can't hurt to try it. Who knows, maybe it'll help.0
