Hello all! Apologies for dropping the ball last week, I honestly feel terrible about it. I was volunteering for Tony Robbins in NJ and it slipped my mind.

We meet here to explore, share, celebrate, and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for November below:

Monday - Imastar2 (Derrick)
Tuesday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Wednesday - Jimb376mfp (Jim)
Thursday - EliteCoachKal (Kal)
Friday - savignr (Bob)

Today’s Topic: Next week is Thanksgiving! What are you truly grateful for in your life? What practices of gratitude do you use in your everyday life, or what would you like to institute in this area.

I am grateful for a large number of things right now that my wife is still by my side through her life threating health issues. My gratitude in every day life is to help seniors make their life more fulfilling and help with their needs to give them an active life.

On Thanksgiving 2012 my youngest son gave me THE TALK about my health (Weight) not a threat just to tell the family loves means wants me to LIVE.

I'm grateful that I've been a normal weight since 2012 after a lifetime of obesity interspersed with a few years here and there of being merely overweight. I work with senior adults on a daily basis and see just how hard it can be to get around much less when carrying 100+ extra pounds.

Grateful to be alive and active. Wouldn’t have happened without weight loss. Grateful for DW and our kids.

@Jimb376mfp Inspiring story. So you really aren’t half the man you used to be. Sorry, couldn’t resist. Your youngest son is a rare and remarkable person.

I am grateful to be employed.

I was without a job (excepting a few small contract positions) from 2009 - 2012. A few people in this group may remember that. I had never been unemployed for more than two weeks prior to that experience.

So, when asked what I am grateful for, my continued employment ranks right up at the top, and I make sure to state it verbally each year.

    Yes, Less is MORE!
    More Life,

My youngest son had a TBI in 2011. I was with him six weeks at Bellevue Hospital NYC. Fully recovered and when he said the right words I realized how much it was hurting my family by not caring.

My DW and other 2 sons had made many efforts to help me. But the words our youngest (now 34 yo) opened my eyes. I realized I could change my Lifestyle. After learning how from WW and GOAD.

Yes Greatful to God that I'm allowed to wakeup every morning. My DW and DS my Church and for my friends. I'm grateful for GoaD for being here and participating.

I show my deep gratitude by being Deacon and singing in the choir each Sunday. Also being in Kiwanis and helping Children locally, nationally and Internationally on a weekly basis. I do my best to help with other needy project s as much as possible.

Every day, I try to be grateful for my family, a home and food to eat. I haven't been volunteering as much in my community recently while trying to get moved (and running into several challenges) but up until recently, I gave freely of my time and talent to several civic groups.
