Travel day!

Hey everyone! Happy Monday!

This Saturday I'm taking off for a mini-holiday vacation to see my parents!

I am doing IF from 10:30am - 6:30pm.

I leave my house on Saturday at 12:00pm, I will not be arriving at my parents' home until after 8:00pm their time.

I am looking for safe foods to pack for my flight. I am not a pepperoni eater. I count total carbs(20g per day), not net. I don't do most sweeteners. (only stevia)

I'm looking for things to eat that are more meal like for on the plane, I have snacks covered. My concern is keeping things cold when TSA won't allow ice packs. The last thing I want is food poisoning on my way there...

Help?

There are foil packages of tuna or chicken salad that are kept at room temp. (Not sure if the TSA allows these?) Pair with a pkg of string cheese perhaps?

Sausage balls store well. They're not very messy, are easy to make, and are packed with fat and protein.

I'd bet there's some sort of low carb/gluten free/etc type meal option if your flight is that long. Airports also have plenty of places to eat, and they all probably have a good keto option. Burger places for sure will. Can always get something before boarding and it won't be cooked long enough to have gone bad.

If it were me, I would just not eat during those 8+ hours. It sounds like you are accustomed to not eating for 8 hours typically anyway, you just will shift the time at which it starts/stops.

If you are dead set on eating on the plane, I would suggest a small amount of nuts if you eat that. Avoid peanuts in case someone on the plane has a peanut allergy, but perhaps other types of nuts (almonds, macadamia nuts, walnuts, whatever).

If you are like me and do not eat plants, then tuna or chicken foil pouches and/or beef jerky.

I'll definitely look at the sausage balls!

My flight isn't that long, it's the entire trip, leave my house at noon, flight at 2:45, land at 5:45, drive to Mom and Dad's, arrive at 8pm(ish). I'm incredibly cheap and neurotic about logging my foods, so I always try to have SOMETHING on me so if I get hungry, held up, whatnot, I have something I know I can snack on. Having a travel day, I want to be prepared so I don't get screwed up. Mom and Dad already said "make sure you've eaten, we're not stopping." lol, at least they're honest.

I don't know how I would shift my food for something like that. If I typically eat from 10:30am - 6:30pm, and will be waking up that morning around 7am, how would that work? Then what, eat at 8pm when I get there? Then how does the next day go? That sounds overly complicated! But, my brain is that way, lol!

    Thanks for the answers!

Ah, ok... I thought you were saying you fasted during that time, not the other way around. You could eat 7am-12pm and then fast during your travels.
