Just got approved for Medicaid and set up an appointment for January for the local WLS center. I am beyond excited! Any tips or advice greatly appreciated 😁

Read everything you can about how life is different post op. The relationship with food changes (as it should!). We can’t eat the same foods post op or we will become the same big person again! That is something you HAVE to solidify in your thinking now! It’s a forever food control! The surgery doesn’t make it easy forever!!! Our relationships with family and friends change (sometimes for the good and sometimes for the not so good!). Be ready for the skin to sag, everywhere. This is going to happen period, no matter how hard you try to lift or rub lotions....

But it’s wonderful to fit in places, buy clothes anywhere, see yourselyin a reflection and wonder who that skinny person is and then realize it’s you, and yes cross your legs!!! All of these things and more are so worth it!!

Learn to love yourself, because you deserve the love that you give to others too! Just as you admire other people for being the person who would give you the shirt off of their back if needed, you need to give yourself the same admiration! Not in a conceited way, just in a self loving way that we all deserve.

We have over 300 negative self thoughts (“Oh I’m so stupid”...) everyday! And what our brain thinks is what we believe. It takes time, but we need to turn those negative thoughts into positives (“Oh I just made a mistake and learned from it”, or “iI know I am better and will do better”) and change the way we think about ourselves to learn to truly love ourselves!

Sorry this has gotten long! But there’s so much to really consider before WLS that I wish I’d known too! But the outcome can be great!! So glad, and excited for you! I’m ready to watch your journey through the process!!

You’re welcome to send me a friend request. I don’t log my food anymore since I’ve been in a successful maintenance mode for at least two years now, but I eat a mostly keto diet, and have since I recovered from my sleeve to RNY conversion on January 20, 2015. Hugs to you!!

I had sleeve surgery in August 2017.

It has been the best decision I have ever made in my life.

I have lost 70 kg (155 lbs) so far.

Do your research speak to a few different surgeons, and find a program that will work for you.

Best of luck on your journey!
