We meet here to explore, share, celebrate, and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for December below:
Monday - Imastar2 (Derrick)
Tuesday - 88olds (George)
Wednesday - minimyzeme (Kim)
Thursday - savignr (Bob)
Friday - Podkey (Bob)
Monday's topic: What's the single most important thing weightwise and healthwise you'd like to accomplish for 2019.

I bring this up not to look neccesarily at goals but just thinking about the one most important thing I wanted to accomplish for 2019.
I wasn't too lose 52 lbs for 2019. That's a lb a week. Certainly an attainable goal given my weight. For health If like to get to the track and walk 3 days a week minimum starting at 10 minutes a day. I know that doesn't sound like much but I currently am not doing any organized walking and that would be a start. I'm sure I'll increase it but got more just getting there and walking is the most important thing.

I have 2 goals for 2019, both activity related: 1) ride a 300K brevet, and 2) hike at least 100 miles on the Ice Age Trail.
I have an event penciled in for #1 (6/29) and for #2, I've signed up to be a field editor for the Manitowoc segment (they update the guidebooks every 3 years. I volunteered in 2016 and it really helped me get started on my segment hiking project).
I need to up my weekly walking for goal #2. I just updated my 2018 spreadsheet and with all the work stress of the fall semester, my walking frequency and distance went way down.1 -
I wanted to make a correction in the wording of my above post which should have read I want to lose 52 lbs for 2019. Corrective spelling placed the wrong word in there.

@gadgetgirl What is a brevit? How many miles do you bike each year?
@podkey How many miles a year do you ride?
My goal this year was 2,000 miles; I made it to 1,000. My goal for 2019 is 200 miles a month; about 7 ,miles a day. I have atherosclerosis with an arteries age of 90. Bicycling may hold it at bay or with any luck improve my arterial health.0 -
What's the single most important thing weightwise and healthwise you'd like to accomplish for 2019.
Weightwise: Keep below GW and reach one year on Maintenance May 2019. (And keep going)
Health wise: Recovery after repaired pinched nerve now I need to do PT to strengthen leg to get back To walking with no cane.1 -
I lost slow and steady for a couple years, then stalled until an illness and it's treatment in 2015 resulted in a gain. In 2019, I'd like to see the low numbers of 2015! I felt great there, still 15#s from goal!1

I want to get my feet and ankles in better shape. It’s a problem that messes up a lot of stuff.1

@Flintwinch - Randonneuring is long-distance, unsupported, noncompetitive cycling within prescribed time limits. The events—called brevets—are 200km (13.5 hour time cut-off ), 300km (20 hours), 400km (27 hours), 600km (40 hours), and 1000km (75 hours).
There were many years when I was happy to just get about 500 miles on my bike. I started to get more serious again in 2015 when I worked back up to a riding a century (100 miles). I finally got over 1000 miles in 2016. 2017 is when I tried my first brevet and got hooked. 2017 ended up with just over 2100 miles, certainly a lifetime record for me. Unfortunately I never kept records of my cycling adventures in the early 80's when I did my first centuries.
2018 will close out with just over 4600 miles! I can't do the running that I was doing in 2014-2017 due to issues with arthritis in my left knee so the time that was spent on running on weekends is now devoted to cycling. Cycling has never beaten me up like running did so I anticipate that I have many more years of adventures ahead of me!1 -

Two single things:I want to continue increasing my quality of life in a smaller body and I really do want to do the C25K training. Last year I said I WOULD do it and I didn't. I need to push myself in this lifestyle so it's still near the top of my list of things to do.

My accomplishment for 2019 is to refocus my mindset. I have been at a major struggle this year and are having a tough go at losing. I am back in the gain again for the year and I just can not get my motivation back. I am trying but with issues here it is hard.
I am starting to lose interest in trying and I am trying to hang in there and the support here is keeping at bay. Thank you to everyone.0 -

I hope that autocorrect gave you the "gain" instead of the "game".0 -
