Happy 2019 Ladies! I quickly saw that you were posting on the last thread but thought I'd start a new one for this week since my weigh in day is Friday... eek. I'll definitely be up as I tried to be somewhat "good" over the holidays but it's so difficult this time of year.
I'm back up at work this week until Jan 8th, but then I'm off until Feb 12th! We move into our new home on Jan 17, we're having our legal wedding on Jan 20 (in our new home), we're off to Mexico on Jan 22 and then we have our wedding on Jan 26. Holy moly.
Ok.. this was just a quick check in. I'll read your posts tomorrow and post more about what's been happening with me.

One and half pounds up! Well, that's what happens when I don't log my food. I used to always log my food, even if I was on travel, but this time, I I did as little as I could online for work and didn't even log in for three days in a row. So I have an 8-day gap. I think that's the longest ever. And I've had issues keeping up with intake ever since the kitchen went under construction and we started eating out more often. Thankfully, that is now almost entirely over. We still need art on the walls, counter stools, and other small things. But we can cook!
But, reality hit me full force when I tried to squeeze into this lovely dressy suit that I bought for a wedding and had tailored to fit when I was near my low point in October 2011. OMG. Most of the regained weight has gone to my midsection, and although I could barely zip and button, there was no way I could survive in that suit for even 5 minutes, much less an evening! So yesterday, I had to go buy something new to wear to a wedding on January 11.
But it was a good wake-up call. It's easy to not realize the difference in clothes that are more forgiving.
My goal for this year is end 2019 healthier than when it started. And I hope a by-product will be getting back in that suit. I believe that will take losing about 14 pounds.
Kelly, you have so many exciting things happening. Do fill us in when you get a chance. I can't wait to see you in that lovely dress. Hope you're taking time to care of yourself while being so busy. Sheesh and Lois, I am looking forward to your updates, too. Missed the chats.
I want to set myself some goals as we go into this new year, and I want you ladies to keep me accountable. My goal for this weigh-in week is to log at least 56,000 steps, to log my food every day, to eat more fruit and vegetables, and to cut back on carbs and dairy. I will report my progress on those as well as my weight next Wednesday. Do you know how hard it was to put the real number down today? LOL But I've always done that and always will. You keep me honest and motivated.

REALITY SUCKS!!!

So I really need to focus. My vacation time for the holidays was filled with chaos - as was everyone's I'm sure. I have no reasons for the lack of self control. HOWEVER, I did end the year doing a 30 min session on the bike....BEFORE Rhea arrived. aand once Rhea got there...with all of the hugging and holding, got in 13k steps and 10k on the 1st. No bike time as they left too late and I did want to get some pho soup going (that took much longer and clean up harder I dunno why...I was super messy). Anyway BEFORE Rhea got there, I did manage to pre chop 13lbs of chicken breast (so it's ready for a stir fry or pressure cooker recipe). Four cups of onions (ok...they were super juicy and made me tear up too much...couldn't see to not cut my finger...had to stop) and six cups of celery and six cups of carrots for future use. They are all in the freezer ready to go.
Our holiday vacation time was riddled with bad news. Started my vacation on 12/21 at the celebration of life for my owner's brother (my old boss). It was hard to rebound that day. The day after Christmas our dear friend sent us a text that our Sheldon was in CCU with sepsis and some other infections that they were still attempting to diagnose. He is still on ventilator and dialysis. He was medicated, but they have taken him off of the pain meds but he hasn't yet woken up. His white count is not rising, but it hasn't dipped again either so there's a positive. He had a colostomy done about 12 years ago and has just been through hell. Prayers are welcome for him and his family. I've been on standby for him... My step mom had taken a turn and had developed pneumonia and I thought I was headed to Cali a few times. Currently I plan on driving to Cali on 1/25 to be there for my stepmom's 86th bday on the 26th and then swing by my friends on the way back home.
I did get quality time with my little Rhea and son and DIL. We had some fun times. Christmas eve luminaries at our house. Christmas day in Flagstaff with my son and his inlaws and Rhea of course. we had snow falling, but it did not stick (we were happy as we had to drive home the next day). We went to the zoo and saw the zoo lights...we even had our other two grandchildren. However, the 10 year old was allowed to bring two friends, so they bolted as soon as we got through the gates and I didn't see them again until we left. Kelsie, the six year old stayed with us and was super cute with my son (he usually thinks she's and annoying bratty kid, but he totally had fun with her as well). Rhea loved the lights until the stroller lulled her to sleep. NYE we had my son and his family over and it was a quiet night with a couple of games.
Sorry to have gone radio silent. I was doing my best to stay off my computer and not log into work and see what was going on...I was successful, but then it's so hard to update from the phone.
Goals: Get my meal planning done to get my bloodwork back in line. Watching my macros.
Getting some 30 mins of treadmill or bike and my 7k steps OR 10k steps daily... I don't think I can do 10k steps AND 30 mins of bike for a few weeks of warmup. I was dying yesterday after 30 mins of bike ride and the 13k steps. I want to set myself up to succeed and setting easy goals for now. And my bike ride is not intense in power, just need to get my legs moving again.
Oh and the Reliv seems to be helping some with the tummy issues. Not having as many "immediate needs" issues - I had fair warning when I started the bike. YAY!0 -
Fail at getting my workout or steps in yesterday. Today is a new day!

My friend Ralph once mentioned that at midnight, your fitbit goes back to zero, and that means that what is done for one day is done, and so you should let go of it and focus on the new day. I remember that and think of it in terms of my goals here and in terms of life in general, and it helps to keep me moving forward.
I can really relate to trying to stay off the computer during the holiday to avoid getting sucked into work and dealing with family health issues. I am glad, however, to hear that your tummy is improving. Yesterday, we made split pea and ham soup from the ham bone/end I froze over the holidays, and it stirred up hubby's IBS. He looked at me sadly this morning and said, "but peas are a vegetable and not a legume!"
I did manage to get in 10,000 steps on both the 1st and the 2nd. Yesterday it was thanks to a late call from my walking buddy. But my intake has not been as good as I hoped. That darned soup had a lot more calories than I anticipated, and I didn't log it until this morning, so that was a done deal. I wish I were disciplined enough to log ahead of time, but I seldom do, And I think the latitude I allowed myself during our trip has stirred up my appetite. But hopefully that will soon adjust.

Way to set some goals for the New Year ladies! I will do my best to keep you accountable, if you'll do the same for me. Sarah - fitting into clothes is a great goal!! I love it because it's really not particularly about the numbers, but more about how you feel and what the measurements prove.
Weight in for me is tomorrow, but I did weigh myself this morning and I was COMPLETELY surprised to see that I lost a bit more weight over the holidays. We'll see if that sticks for tomorrow's actual weigh in.0 -
Good to see all your updates and goals for the New Year. We had a great time in Portland, and a very fun New Year with the granddaughters and lots of games and food. We got outside every day for a walk with the dog (it's great to have warmer weather) and also went bowling and to the park with lots of playing. I did weigh Wed morning, but had no time to post. I was 132 lbs. even. I was pleasantly surprised, so I guess the walks and bowling helped counter the food intake.
Lois, good work with the bike and pacing with Rhea! Also, getting the food prep done is a major step for moving forward with your goals. Glad the medication is helping your gut. One of my goals for Jan is to get my gut healed. I'm up to 2 Biocidin 3 times per day! Also, a probiotic and eating prebiotic food. So, let's focus on that together this month.
I'm really sorry about the holiday bad news overload. Please take care of yourself.
Sarah, I agree with Kelly that favorite clothing is a great motivator. You could try hanging it up where you can see it to help keep you focused. Keep getting those steps and logging food. . . you'll be in that suit before you know it.
And the new bride . . . AH! Kelly, I'm so excited for you!! Lots of good stuff in the very near future for you and Shawn
I hit the ground running with walking and some challenges my trainer laid on me . . . 30 days of incrementally increasing wall sits, walk/jogging increments, and sit up increments. Day 1 was actually yesterday for me, but I got it done and done again today. I had my additional weight training with her today too. I'm going to feel it tomorrow.0 -
Hi, Ladies. I was happy to see the new posts when I quickly logged in to put in dinner and evening snack. Glad we're all back for the moment, and I do hope that 2019 will be a good year for all of us.
I was able to walk with my buddy again last night so I have three days in a row with 10,000 steps.BUT--the scale is not budging and I'm still above 143. I CANNOT stay here. But what I have found in the past is that when I increase my activity, my weight stays the same or even increases for a day or two and then falls, so I'm hoping. A trainer from the past said something about the muscle tissue retaining fluid temporarily.
I'm feeling a little cranky this morning because we have what could potentially be a very expensive plumbing issue. Hubby went down to the basement last night and discovered water coming out of the closet that stretches across one side of the room. In one corner of that closet there's a floor drain, and it seems it's clogged. Other people on our street have had some serious issues with roots in their drains, but I wonder if it could be construction debris from the kitchen work. Will have to wait and see. The plumbers are due in between 1 and 4 p.m. It's always something!
Kelly, losing weight over the holiday is quite an accomplishment. I know you're probably running in circle getting ready for the big days ahead.0 -
Sept 27 (started lazy keto) - 158.2
Oct 29 - 153.4
Nov 9 - 150.9
Dec 7 - 149.5
Jan 4 (today) - 146.1
Yay!!! So happy. It sure feels good to know that what I'm doing is making me feel so much better.
Sarah - Sorry to hear about the plumbing issue in your house! I know that can be super stressful as you just don't know how big of a problem or cost it's going to be until the plumber figures it out. Hopefully it's a simple fix and not too expensive! Good job on getting those 10,000 steps! You really should start joining out FitBit challenges. They are a good motivator and there's a variety of women that have different daily step goals. Good idea from Sheesh about hanging up your outfit where you can see it more often! That would definitely help me.
Sheesh - Glad to hear your holidays were good. Good job on doing the challenges with your trainer! Don't you just love when you feel motivated!!
Lois - Sorry to hear about all the sad news over the holidays. As nice as the holidays are, they can be very difficult for some. I'm glad you got to spend time with your family though and that little one! Way to use her as some weights while walking around lol

Yeah, Kelly!! You have lost 12 pounds in less than 4 months! You go, girl!
I now, once again, have limited use of my kitchen because the drain that is broken is one that captures kitchen water. And once again, the room in the basement where I now keep my treadmill is chaos because we've had to move everything out of half of the closet and into the room. Arghhh. Our house was built in 1972 when they used cast iron pipes that eventually corrode and break. That is what has happened here. So they will have jackhammer through 8 inches of concrete and then dig a trench to find the break. It will cost thousands, I'm sure. And I will also have dirt and concrete all over the room we just finished a year ago. I don't know how they'll pour the concrete back since this is not a walkout. And the ensuing mess will certainly make using the TM difficult if not impossible, so keeping up my 2019 momentum is going to require some work. Keep me going ladies. I'm searching hard for the willingness to keep a good attitude.

Update Friday m my phone so sorry if I don’t cover all congrats!!
Kelly - welcome back and so happy you’re seeing positive results from your efforts. You’re going to be a beautiful bride and have an amazing honeymoon!!! The house move will also happen and SUPER YAY!! You’re reduction over the past few months is incredible. Keep on doing what you’re doing
Sheesh. Congrats on holding while traveling and visiting!! Welcome back. We’ve missed you too!!!
Sarah yay for getting some steps. You see hurdles in front of you with the darn plumbing issue - don’t let that deter you from your goals!!
I DID SUCCEED today in getting on the bike first thing this am and got in 6.2 miles for a virtual race . I tell ya find what makes you move. My friend woke up today, he’s responding to his wife and they are removing the ventilator tonight tomorrow. Tons of love and prayers for him. He still has a long road ahead so please keep him in your prayers. My stepmom is hanging in. Her pneumonia is under control and she’s agreed to move into a senior assisted living center. During her assessment the nurse noticed a wound that is pretty severe (stage 4). Well when you read on the internet she can get sepsis and all sorts of other stuff. With what my friend is still going through with the sepsis I really got freaked. I chatted with my Ortho friend and his wife and they’ve calmed me back down. Stepmom is getting care from a wound specialist so she should be able to move forward to the new place. The center also said they’d hold her room for the potential six weeks it may take for her to heal well enough to move in. So positive news from here as well.
Had dinnner with my son and his family for his upcoming birthday. That included some Rhea time of course. We went tonight as mil leaves tomorrow at 11 and she wanted to see them before she left. Had a great night. I had 6oz ny strip with green beans and 1/2 sweet potato (no butter). Brought the home leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
Proud moment. Last night. Instead of ordering or fast food I made honey sesame chicken and rice with veggies. Meal prep for the win!
Happy new year. Let’s focus on meeting and exceeding our goals

Uh oh Sarah! That doesn't sound good at all. Sorry to hear that it's going to be a massive mess and a huge cost. Unfortunately that's life and sometimes life moments like that suck. Try to stay as positive as you can Hun. Maybe you can get someone to move your treadmill somewhere else? Or maybe you'll just have to do more mall walking alone. Thinking of you!
That's great that your Step Mom has agreed to go into an assisted living center, Lois. I'm sure that's a huge relief. Hopefully her wound heals fast and she can get in there as soon as possible. Great job on getting that bike ride in! I'd love to try a virtual race. It sounds fun! Also that's fantastic about not ordering fast food. Not only does it help the waistline, but it helps the wallet too!0 -
Sunday update. I will finish with my 7k steps today and meal prep done. Made amazing butternut squash soup for dinner as well as some “butter chicken” for tomorrow nights dinner. Veggies and seeet potatoes cooked and chicken ready for hubby. Frozen mahi mahi for other nights. Taking soup and grilled cheese sandwich for lunch Monday. Btw. We got cold and rain here so soup is perfect. Loving my instant pot0
