Looking for open diaries for food ideas.

Hi everyone. I watched FOK last week and have been doing research ever since. Lots of googling and reading about cutting out animal products, etc. Today I started eating plant based foods only and its 9pm and I feel pretty great. My one concern is when I look at my macros my carbs are really high and my protein is really low, which I find really hard to wrap my head around because I've always eaten sort of low carb and high protein in the past. I was wondering if any of you have open diaries so I can get ideas on meals with higher protein. Thanks in advance.

Don't worry about protein. As long as you are eating sufficient calories, protein is a non issue. In fact, there is no medical term for protein deficiency. It's a good thing that your carbs are high. Continue aiming for them to be at least 70% if not 80%+ of your calories everyday for optimal health and energy. Humans really only need about 5% of calories from protein (World Health Organization recommendation). So 5-10% of protein can be your "goal" which will automatically be achieved by eating a variety of high carb plant foods like starches (potatoes, rice, grains, legumes, etc.) and fruits with the addition of vegetables and leafy greens for getting more vitamins and minerals. Hope this helps. Feel free to friend me and check out my diary too.0

Thank you for the info. I guess I'm still stuck in the low carb mind set I've been on for the last 2 years. Yesterday was my first plant based day and I felt great all day, no hunger at all, lots of energy, but then around 2am i woke up with a monster headache, which i still have. I'm not sure if related or not but I'm hoping it will clear up soon.
I spent a lot of last night on the FOK & Engine2 websites looking at recipes. I'm quite excited about them!
I'm doing my kitchen purge today, so it should be interesting to see the junk i get rid of.
Oh and another bonus from yesterday I woke up down 2 lbs after gaining weight steadily for the last week. Yay!0 -
That's awesome! If you want other good recipes, check out some stuff by Dr. McDougall. He has both an excellent scientific basis behind eating in this manner as well as recipes, his latest book was The Starch Solution and I highly recommend that. He has a bunch of free recipes on his site too drmcdougall.com . Happy eating0

Thank you Sheltony, I'll add you!
I'm obsessed with Rip, hes my new virtual boyfriend..lol. As a police & fire dispatcher I work with firefighters everyday and they (for the most part) are very healthy eaters. I've had meals in the stations a few times & was always impressed at the healthy spread they put out but its nothing like Rips. I'm going to have to share his stuff with them0 -
