Curious about SB

Followed Sabine's link in a thread to here and I'm very curious about what SB is, though I've spent a lot of time looking into DASH and thinks that's a very solid plan.
Next time I'm at the library I'll have to get the SB book (if there's more than one, what's the recommended one?). Looks like there's two phases and with where I'm at I'm mostly interested in the phase 2/long term plan. Right now I'm very loosely following the Blue Zones/a pescetarian woe, but after tracking for a bit I'm realizing that I'm pretty low fat and protein some (ok, a lot lol) days, so I think I need to follow something with a bit more structure, to make sure I'm hitting minimums. The NIH website has DASH listed out in a nice format, but there's a lot of things to track, so it's a bit overwhelming. Maybe SB is a bit simpler, but still structured?
Weight wise I'm just working on some maintenance creep and need to lose about 10lbs more, so not a biggie on that front. More interested in a long term way of eating that emphases whole foods, is heavily plant based, but has a bit of wiggle room for things like my beloved Diet coke
Anyhoo, looking forward to reading through the group posts!

DASH (the weight loss one) is very much based on SB. SB is very much based on Mediterranean diet so that fits nicely with your blue zones.
I'm currently doing a "reboot" as I gained a bit with menopause, but had maintained successfully for 15+ years following the basic principles.
There are a couple of different books:
The South Beach Diet- short, to the point, has a few "errors" (oversights)
The South Beach Diet Supercharged- longer, fixes the errors (glycemic index versus glycemic load) and has an exercise plan
The South Beach Diet Gluten Solution-the diet with a gluten sensitivity "test" built in.
The South Beach Diet Heart Solution- the diet with lots of science and advice about heart health.
I'd suggest the first or second one. Those are likely in the library.
We DON'T follow the nutrisystem meal plan. Frankly, it's a travesty that they can call themselves that because it goes against the very principles of the diet.
Good luck!0 -

Thank you! I'm going to see if I can borrow one of the first two you recommended.
And wow-15 years of maintenance is beyond amazing! I'm at almost 6 yrs and that feels like forever And I hear you on the weight gain, currently working on 14lbs of maintenance creep from last year where I just decided for a few months that I didn't want to deal with keeping on top of things anymore. Lesson learned-I can't get lazy with maintenance.1 -
Ran to the library and they had The SB Heart Program, The SB Wake-Up Call and The SB Diet (think this is the first one), so I got them all and will start reading tonight!0

Wake up call is a bit of a slog. It's more of a "what's wrong with how American's eat". Start with the SB diet. 👍0 -

I'm power skimming lol. So far in Wake Up Call what's stood out to me is the part where he talks about fiber. It lines up perfectly with the new recommendations from the WHO commissioned team, for higher fiber, 30+ grams.1 -

Yes. He's definitely a fan of fiber. To be honest, I haven't finished wake up call. I read at it from time to time, and like it, but for some reason I've never made it through. I devoured the Heart book. Btw, I sent you a PM with more information.0 -
Just checked and I don't have any messages?0

Just checked again and still nothing-I wonder if it's because of all the glitches the site has been having lately?0
