Was there ever an updated Deep Thoughts Series on SmartPoints? I always found the explanation and analysis of the PointsPlus Plan really helpful, but still have trouble wrapping my head around what's going on with SmartPoints (and especially FitPoints 2.0).

I don't do SmartPoints, so I can't speak to that. But, I do remember the ones for PointsPlus, and I agree they were helpful.

I did the old Deep Thoughts series on Points Plus, but have not done one for SmartPoints. I haven't looked to see whether SmartPoints is in the old patent, or if there's a new patent, and how easy it is to follow.

I followed the WW program about 6 months ago, and like you, I found it challenging to wrap my head around. Indeed, I never really understood the underlying premises of the program, nor the "spirit" of the program, and ultimately dropped it in favor of calorie-counting (and intuitive maintenance/losing).

OK, so you got me curious and I went and did a quick Google search. Here is a link that explains the "mechanics" of the calculation:

The one thing that (I think) is missing in their discussion is how WW got to the zero-point foods, which was a stumbling block for me when I was doing the program (i.e., I struggled to understand why some foods were zero point, and others weren't, outside of "they're healthy").
