How do you track your water intake for MFP? Do you include water from your coffee, tea or smoothies? Just wondering.

I don't track it in MFP. I drink 3 32-oz bottles of water, minimally daily.

If you are a regular caffeine drinker, include it. If you are an occasional caffeine drinker, that's when it can dehydrate you. (new studies published on the effects of caffeine)

If there's sugar added, I don't count it. For me, my water intake is anything calorie free. Others include everything. Seems like another place surgeons vary.

There's a common myth that we "need" a certain amount of water. The fact is, it really depends on each individual. Sedentary people can survive on probably 20 ounces or so. Where as days when I run long distances I'm probably getting upwards of 200. Anything you drink is primarily water. Even milk is 93% water. Your body knows how to take the chemical H2O and process it away from the other ingredients in the drink. So, yes, all drinks "count". I personally find the simplest way to track water is to go by thirst. If I'm thirsty I drink (and sometimes if I'm not thirsty I drink). I've never tracked and have never had any issues with dehydration. And my health is the best it's ever been.

I was counting all liquids, but my eye doctor wants me to cut down on caffeine because my dry eyes are so bad. I decided to quit logging my caffeinated drinks when I log my liquids on MFP. I'm hoping this will help me drink more water and less coffee. Hasn't worked too well yet, lol.
