Yes, I know not everyone can lose 20 pounds in a month.............MFP has me at a goal weight of like 126 pounds, when everyone thought I was anorexic at 148#. I have a history of bulemia for like 6 years in my teens and early 20's (now 54). I started this WOE a little over 3 weeks ago, a good 75 lbs. to lose. I want to get to a size 12 versus 20 in pants, so I am going about size, not weight. I am 3 weeks in, pretty strict, and have only lost a bit over 6 lbs. Being so much over-weight, I thought I would lose faster, especially since I am a Bread/Beer/Pasta lady and am *generally* under 25 net carbs a day. Any advice? TYIA.

It sounds like you probably have a lot of healing to do. Be patient. You list 2 pounds a week so far. That’s pretty amazing. Nothing to be disappointed about.
    Give yourself some credit.

@mkrefting it sounds like you are off to a good start. I was 63 and a very sick old dog and I did not lose a pound until day 45 but I was focusing on how to do keto and getting better was my only goal.

Take your measurements now then later. Before I lost the first pound I lost an inch in my belt and some face fat. People were telling me they could tell I had lost weight and I thought they were making fun of me because the scales had not moved lower at all.

What keto as done for me since Oct 2004 would be a book if my memory was that good at age 68. :)

Making my focus about improving my health and health markers only helped in my case but without really trying I lost 50 pounds the first year and have maintained for over 3 years now.

Taking some time to maintain after a 10-20% weight loss helps some people if the weight loss happens quickly.

There is many ways keto is done and the way that works best for you is the right way I expect. The under 50 grams of carbs daily is the one big thing if one wants to do keto. Sounds like you have already nailed that one well. My carb cravings started to fade after two weeks and my pain started dropping like a rock by day 30 in my case and still is dropping slowly but I am able to do 10X+ physical stuff than in Oct 2014 when I needed help just getting in and out of a car.

@Sunny_Bunny_ and others here are very helpful to people new to this Way Of Eating.

    Best of continued success.

your doing great. 2 lbs a week is awesome. Like you said its a WOE not a diet so just think that every day "THIS IS THE WAY I EAT"

Time will pass anyway. Your body will have no choice but to respond if you give it enough time.
I was pretty big but I did not get anywhere near 20lb a month, ever. You're doing normal. And that's great. :)

I've said it before but I'll share again! I am one of those people who never had a huge loss when starting low carb. Each body will be have a bit differently and like others have said 2 lbs a week on average means you're losing at a fabulous rate. I didn't lose a single pound in the first 3 weeks so you're well ahead where I was. I've lost over 30 lbs, and i have probably another 30 to go. My body has always taken it's sweet sweet time with the scale. If you can focus on other things like measurements or fitness levels. You're doing great!

I wouldn't know how to measure if I took 4 classes in it. Meanwhile (and yes, I have a bachelors degree), My bras fit now (without gaps), pants are looser, and I WILL NOT WEIGH weekly. I enrolled in a contest at the end of January that ends like March 11. I intend to win. :)

I advocate measuring because you don't have to be particularly scientific about it. Shoot, I've used a string around my waist before, and then just looked to see if it requires less string to go around me. But, if you've got validation of the changes you are making in that clothing fits better that's good too. All that really matters in my opinion is that you don't look only to the scale for validation of progress.
