Now I'm an average weight, I'm measuring my waist size. Need to be under 80cm. Currently 82cm, just three cm away from my goal. Anyone else measuring their waist?

I usually measure my waist in two spots .. my natural waist/smallest part and around my belly button.

I've always kept track of my measurements (chest, waist, hips and thigh) to check for progress or maintenance. So much more reliable (and healthier for my personal mindset) than the scale!

I haven't measured my waist in in some time. I should imagine I am somewhere between 75-80cm. Need to measure my belly again too, that's where I hold most of my fat and is the last place for me to go down in size.

Take in to account your body shape too. I am not quite straight, but I am more straight than I am an hourglass, so my waist is going to bigger than others the same height who are an hourglass or pear shape.

Oh I've been measuring round my belly button. I think that's what the doctor means by waist when they measure

If you frequently do strength training and are often building muscle, the scale, and the BMI will lie to you. Personally I advise people never use the BMI. I lost a tonne of fat recently, and it's very noticeable around my arms and stomach, yet I'm still close to the weight I was previously. Incidentally, my muscle mass has increased a fair bit as well.
