Sugar and Sugar Alcohols

Can someone explain to me the effect “sugar alcohols” have on our nutrition/macro counts? Do they cancel out sugars similar to how fibre subtracted from carbs gives us net carbs? This is one area I definitely don’t feel very knowledgeable on and find that sugar alcohols don’t appear often on nutrition labels so when I do see them I don’t know what to make of that info! Thanks in advance!

It really depends on the specific one. Many of them cannot be subtracted. There was a great video about the various ones.

It is worth the time to watch it and see how they each affect blood sugar. But, even those that don't might impact your satiety and hunger signals.3 -
I think they stall me
I haven't lost anything since buying the Russell's Stover candies, actually gained weight! I hope that's why. If not, idk what's up

They can definitely make you gain weight! Eliminate the artificial sweeteners and you will likely see weight loss again.1
