Anyone hung up on "TARGET WEIGHT" recommendations?

I am 5'6 and weigh 161 lbs. I was in really great shape last summer, which I weighed 156 lbs. My measurements were:
Bust: 38
Waist: 30.5
Hips: 38

According to Weight Watchers Height/Weight ratio, I was still "overweight". Therefore, my goal was to get to 150 pounds. I could NOT do it. I was not willing to starve myself and I could not exercise any more than I was, which was 2 days a week of circuit training and 2 days a week of cardio.

Is you target weight a number you can actually "get to" or is it what is considered "healthy" for your height ??

I am fighting hard to get down to my goal. I have hovered where I am for about 6 months and have been making a serious effort to push my body fat down further these last couple of weeks. It's working, but it is very, very hard. I engage in heavy exercise 6 days a week, sometimes for multiple hours a day (rode my bike for 50 miles on Sunday). I spend a lot of time hungry while practicing IF, but that is the best way I can keep my calories under my daily goals. I make sure I go very low on calories the day or two after a big indulgence.

I've started taking some elite sports supplements to even further boost my efforts, adding in BCAA's, DHEA, Creatine, alpha lipolic acid, whey protein and monitoring my sugar and carb intake so that it is timed properly for endurance and/or muscle recovery needs.

It is worth it, I'm finally starting to see some abs! I've never had a flat stomach or a 6 pack in my whole life, and now, at 43 I'm starting to see some abs emerging. Diet and exercise has become my hobby, and I spend my free time engaged in all things fitness. I even took a different job so that I didn't have to be so sedentary at work.

I know this won't work for everyone, but I am just determined to discover how far I can push myself into athleticism. You have to be a little obsessive to get beyond where your body naturally wants to go. You also have to understand that once you reach your goal, it is not sustainable. I just hope to hit my goal weight and hopefully hover there for a month or two before putting weight back on again.

I used to set mine as the top of the healthy weight bracket from weight watchers, but this time around I have set it about 2/3 the way up the 'overweight' category, 79 kg (not sure what this is in pounds but BMI 28), from what I have read being overweight but not obese is not so much of a health risk especially if you eat well and are physically active. My BMI is currently 34 so anything in the downwards direction is good. My thinking is that if I get there, I can reassess then, but for now I am thinking that no longer being obese would be just wonderful!

I would be happy if I could just get down 20-30lbs. Still overweight according to the charts, but happy with myself.

    I'm 5'6".

My SW was 170lb (firmly in overweight section of the height/weight chart).

My CW is 158lb (just starting to scrape into the "normal" section of the height/weight chart)

My GW is 125lb (in the lower quarter of "normal") but I won't cry if I won't get past 130lb.

I think theoretically the healthy section for my height is from just over 8st (115lb-ish) to 11st (155lb-ish).

PS I was around 9st for most of my life so I feel that for me this is achievable and sustainable.

My other half is 6ft and weighs 160lb at best, but then he's a fell runner.
