Today Orange Theory. Very much outside my comfort zone! Packed class, I was the oldest and the heaviest. Pleasantly surprised that everyone was so encouraging and supportive. Anyone else ???

The first time I went to an exercise class, I dreaded the eyes and judgment... and my experience was much like yours. Everyone was friendly and supportive; positive energy!!

Years ago my wife talked me into joining her in a few Jazzercise classes. I did and was just starting to get comfortable with the moves when I aggravated my right knee. She went on to become an instructor a few years later while I took up martial arts (because that's so much better on the knees, right? [eye-roll]).

She then joined me and earned her 1st degree black belt while I kept at it, including becoming an instructor, until my first retirement earning my 3rd degree black belt.

Unfortunately no time now for that for either of us. But I've been thinking about joining some hot yoga classes, maybe during the winter or after my second retirement. We had a guest yoga instructor come to one of my martial arts classes and I've never sweated so much doing so little.

My first day with the role playing group on the military base. I’d never done anything like this before. Had to jump through some hoops, fingerprinted and security clearance to get there, but it's like a second family now. All ages and backgrounds. Many of us are active or retired military and emergency services people, so all are somewhat ‘phucked in the head’ from our life experiences. Tight bond formed with many good talks. Lots of action and fun, and exercising some acting skills long dormant.

    High ropes course.

    Don't like heights, NotEvenOneTinyBit.

Strapped myself into helmet so tightly I gave myself a headache (someone else checked the body harness, fortunately, or I probably would've lost limbs to cut-off circulation).

The zip line at the end was even kind of fun, after I somehow convinced myself to jump off the platform.

    Overall, terrifying.

But I did it. And I'll never do it again. ;)

I push myself to do new things. They say it keeps you young!
