MAY, Time For Another Beautiful Spring!

It's been sunny here the last few days, so I'm getting my Vitamin D allotment (and a great tan) before the rain kicks in this week.
Love you all, sorry to be MIA. Living in lahlahland dreaming about things I can't have but having fun dreaming about having them!
My weight's been hovering around 143, pretty skinny, so I've been lazy instead of logging on MFP. Went for a 4 mile hike in the mountains Saturday, but it felt like a stroll despite the 100 elevation change. Didn't even hurt the next day - almost not a workout. Every ten pounds I lose makes it so much easier to get around. Nowadays it almost feels like floating.

Paula there you are! Love that you show us you walk.
I hope you was some flowers along the way.
Chris I am glad you were able to enjoy the day no matter the "stuff". Hopefully they did not do it in your home.
Karen we have been having some food rainy days mixed with a bit of sunshine. My clematis are doing good even with the low temperatures. I also ate a bit to much. Walked stairs at work today. Groove on.
It is officer memorial week. Wearing my black band for all those who have fallen in the line of duty.
Shelley0 -
Paula!! I'm so happy you're back, too! I've missed you a bunch!
Shelley, no "stuff" here...he was that way when he arrived with SIL's mom. He just sat and watched his huge burrito, which was wrapped in tin foil, all during dinner. He wanted to talk about my pain and compare it to his pain. Not a dinner, mister. One of the docs he went to for his ripped up shoulder wouln't treat him because he would not quit drinking.
143.0 this morning at 5:00...I knew this was coming, but Mother's Day was great and worth it!
Going for the boys in a few. Planning an easy Tuesday.
Chris0 -
Drinking all the time is not living. Of course I see a lot of wrecked families because of excessive alcohol use. My mom used to drink a lot. She would have to get us kids to pick her up at the town bar. And we were in school! Yeah he sounds like a peach. You do not show up to someone's home like that. Maybe when we were kids. So last that crap.
Work was fun. I had 3 new officers to show around the courts. I like answering their questions.

142.8 this morning at 5:00. Man, I sure miss sleeping in until 7:00. ugh...so hard to roll outta bed at 5:00. and to think I used to get up at 3:00 a.m. for work...
My dad left my mom with six (6) kids (15,12,11,10,8,5) and moved from Riverside to San Diego to get sober...tending bar. Yeah, why to get sober around gallons and gallons of alcohol. Boy, oh boy, do I have stories.
Getting the boys in a few mins. Working out with our trainer at noon. Grocery store. Reading. That's my plan for today.
Chris1 -
141.8 at 5:00 this morning (I think/hope). We had rain yesterday...supposed to have it again today. It was rainy and warm. So nice under the patio roof.
Getting the boys later. We'll play a bunch then after they are picked up we'll go to the store because we didn't do it yesterday. Then I'm going to finish my book and start another on.
Hope you all have a great Thursday!

Hi ladies. Sorry I’ve been MIA. Work has been crazy...they are trying to kill me but I will not go down that way. Only 4 more actual working days. My birthday trip is May 23-29. Turning in my laptop, govt ID and everything else on May 31st. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Ready to start the next phase of my life.
Scared to get on the scale. But I will...eventually.
I have beautiful pictures of my lillies that I need to post...if I can figure out how.
Take care ladies!
Kathy1 -
Kathy you make me laugh with you! I never can post them either. That is why I just do it like the one of my garden and you in your black dress! So excited for you. Congratulations on retiring so young and Happy Birthday. Have someone take a picture of you with your lilies. I did thin a lot of mine out. Doing more roses. You can now spend more time with family and friends.
Chris you are so skinny now. Congratulations friend. Wow, I would have hated a 3 am rising time.
Started working on some of my hanging plants. The fuchias I made into starts are rooting now! I am very excited to see how well they do for me.

Hi everyone,
A friend was playing at a local bar tonight. A lot of us went and danced. It was fun. My favorite dance partner, Betty, is 79 (turning 80 this year) and 4 foot 11 and 3/4 inches tall - she emphasizes the 3/4" - every quarter inch is important. We were twins in our dark red sweaters.

Happy Friday! Always feel so great when Friday rolls around :-) had a really amazing night last night. Took a bunch of people from work to a local housing center for patients and Families getting cancer treatment in Philadelphia. So our task was to make dinner , serve and share time with these folks. Met an amazing man named Dutch who was going through his sixth bout with leukemia. He was diagnosed when he was 47 and best case scenario he'd make it to 50. Yesterday was his 61st birthday and it felt like such an honor to celebrate with him. Just a really funny and strong man. Really impactful. So the number on the scale seems so inconsequential this morning based on my experience last night but 186.8 it is :-) Keep On Keepin On Right?0
-
Kathy- we have had so much rain over the past month that is unbelievable. They said it's been the rainiest met in Philadelphia and many many years. So we haven't really gotten to plant all of my urns yet but I plan on doing it this weekend finally! My mom and I did plant tomatoes and basil but frankly the basil is not going to make it. Just way too much rain. So we'll start over with the basil and we'll get lots of beautiful flowers this weekend. On a positive note my Rhododendron look amazing :-)0
-
142.0 this morning at 5:00 a.m. I love Fridays!
Thanks, Shelley! I don't often see the word 'skinny' anywhere near my name. Made me giggle.
Karen what a great gift for those folks. You guys are amazing!
Paula, so glad to see you! Sounds like you had a blast at your local bar. I remember when we (DH, me and a bunch from work) went to a local bar...someone...not saying who...but she ended up dancing on a table top and sticking a pitcher of beer under her shirt when they left the bar. Pretty sure St. Peter has that on his list of things he wants to talk to me about.
Love you all

177.6 this morning...I’m shocked...I expected to be over 180. Headed to Nashville with my BFF to see George Benson at the Rhyman Auditorium which is the old Grand Ole Opry. Back on Monday to get the last two days in. The off to Los Cabo’s with Ron for my birthday. My co-workers are taking me out to lunch on Tuesday. I didn’t want a party. I just want out!
Have a great weekend!
Kathy0 -
Nice going, Kathy! Great job! The end is near. Have a great time on your adventures.
DNW this morning. I just wanted to sleep in and when I got up, I didn't even think about it.
It is going to be and easy Saturday for us. Reading a new book and drinking coffee!
Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.
Chris0 -
Karen I love Rhodys! It has been colder here also. And rainy. Today we even had some snow again. So not much real planting. If you like large fuchsia flowers look up marshmallow fuchsias. They are huge. There is a link variety also. What an inspirational story. Cancer sucks!
Paula that lady sounds like my mom. She still goes and dances to her favorite band. I am glad you are having such a great time!
Kathy Happy Birthday! No party, just want out! I laughed. Congratulations on the weight loss and retirement. Have fun on all your travels and concerts. Wish I was there.
Chris if you still have the pitcher dig it out and use it. See if your DH recognizes it! Way funny.
I worked overtime at the hospital today. I was pulling security on a prisoner. I even got a free meal out of it!
Shelley0 -
141.8 this morning at 8:30...sleeping in is so great!!!
Had a lunch date this afternoon but my friend cancelled because of the cold rainy weather. R&B will be coming over this afternoon so DDD and SIL can go see a movie.
Shelley, do you think you could swing by my house when the rain stops and help me plant a few things I have in planters that I want in the ground? I am just worried that I'll mess it all up and the plants will end up in Plant Heaven. It is so sad when you love flowers and have a dark brown thumb.
The 'table dancing' and 'pitcher' theft was some 37ish years ago...I'm wondering if the pitcher up in the cupboard belongs to the bar in San Jose...hmmm
What is 'pulling security on a prisoner'? I have an idea but want to make sure so when I brag about you being one of my BFF's, I know what I'm talking about.
We don't dance. DH and I danced once...at DDD's wedding. That was it.
Chris

143.0 this morning at 5:00. Well...sigh.
Getting the boys soon. Kids are going to Disneyland this week. We'll get Bean for a few days. Get to sleep in on those days...
Chris1 -
Chris not quite like standing guard outside the room like in the movies. I am inside the room and she was cuffed to the bed by her ankle. I was completely responsible for her security until I handed her off to transport. I ordered her breakfast and mine was free! That was a nice surprise! She was a chatty Kathy. Hope you can have fun with that info my friend!
I wish I could help you Chris. It would be so much fun. I bought two Brugmansia, Angel trumpet. One is a cutting and the other is seeds. I like growing things from seeds. They are easy to grow and the flowers are amazingly fragrant. Here they are grown in large pots.
Getting up early to do cardio. Letting you all know so I have to do it!
Shelley0 -
141.4 this morning at 5:00. Maybe I'll get into the 130's in the next couple of days...sleepin' in will do that for you!
Shelley, we would have so much fun getting all dirty out back. Paula, Kathy and Karen would all have to come too.
Getting the boys this morning ...trainer at noon...then nothing! I have a lunch planned for tomorrow with two of my friends from the College District. I haven't seen them in a long while. Should be fun. They are going cherry picking in the morning, but I can't do that...walking and reaching are poison to me now. Only 26 days until help arrives.
Okay, see ya all later.
Chris1 -
Could you see all of us? I must warn you I would get carried away and try to do a complete remodel! I am bad. Got in my workout this morning. We are having a car show memorial show this Sunday. Saturday I help out with registrations. There are some poker runs and dash for cash rides also. So I will be very busy this weekend. We had around 5 inches of snow over night. I am hoping it is nice for the show. And that my plants are not ruined!
Chris 26 days seems like a long ways off from this end. I hope it goes quickly for you!
Shelley0 -
Shelley, 26 days is a lot closer than the 74 days I started with. It better go fast.
And you could totally remodel my yards if you wanted. I'll see if I can get you a picture so you can start thinking about it.
I'm having lunch this afternoon with a couple of friends I haven't seen in a long while. It should be fun.
I think I was 142.0 at 7:00 this morning. I think...maybe. Brain fog and I didn't write it down.
Got to go. Have a great Thursday, my friends.
Chris0 -
You are doing awesome Chris. I thought you mentioned once that you have a gardener? Maybe my brain is in a fog! I would like to see photos of your garden. I love seeing how others do things. I have a new fuchsia coming today. I had a weak moment and ordered it. LOL It is called Pink Marshallow and it is a HUGE bloom. I seen some years ago and am excited to try it. If I get it to grow and bloom I will take a picture of it with my hand for size comparison!
Shelley0 -
Thank you, Shelley! And yes, we have a gardener...do you want him?...I'll send him to you...no, you are one of my best friends, I can't do that to you. They are awful. DH thinks they are just fine, sh here they stay. UGH!!
I'll try to remember to take a picture of the front yard tomorrow.
Had to have another MRI today. Those darn things are loud as can be! Good thing they give you ear plugs. **sigh**
Bean was really good while we were gone. He was so happy to see us when we got home. I felt so guilty.

179.0 this morning. Good news and bad news. The good news...1 day of work left then turn everything in on Thursday. I’m so ready for the start of a new beginning. The bad news...my birthday trip had to be postponed. Ron woke up one morning this week with another bout of sciatica. He’s in horrible pain from his right hip down his leg. He can barely walk. He’s been to his primary care and chiropractor but not much relief yet.
He’s more upset than I about missing my birthday trip and even suggested that I go with a friend without him. I gave him a resounding no way. This gives me time to get some rest and get packed without rushing. We’ve already spoken to our travel agent about rescheduling for late June or early July. The really good news is we’re changing from Los Cabos to Turks and Caicos...nicer beaches and a shorter flight.
We’re going to wait for two weeks to book to make sure Ron has recovered. If he’s up to it tomorrow he wants to take me to dinner for my birthday...we will play that by ear. I don’t think he’s up to it...he just feels so bad. But I’m good and have something new to look forward...Turks is on my bucket list!
I plan to use this extra time to hopefully lose a few pounds. And I’m still keeping the swim lessons secret. And I have 4 more scheduled in June.
Have a great weekend ladies and take care.
Kathy

Kathy, it will all work out for you guys. Your trip will be wonderful and beautiful. And Happy Birthday tomorrow!!!
142.2 at 7:30 this morning. DDD, SIL and Ronan are in Disneyland this weekend...Here is the sweetest picture...Ronan handed big Pluto his little stuffed Pluto and big Pluto started hugging it...this is Ronan's reaction...
I love it!!
Here's our front yard...from the porch...
from the porch...Bean is down on the sidewalk...
from the mailbox on the sidewalk...
Hope that's not too much.
Chris

What a cutie pie! And I love your yard!!
Great weekend.
Kathy0 -
Thanks, Kathy. When everything blooms, I'll send another picture. It's really pretty then...yellows, purples, reds...
Chris0 -
This is sad. I know I hit save.
Kathy love your lilies.I know your vacation will be a success. I hope Ron is feeling better. That has to be awful. I know you are so excited.
Chris love the pics. Yes later photos are needed. I know very little about zero scaping. But I love the look. And what a darling he is! Love the picture.
Rained all day. Took the grandkids to Alladin. The movie was so fun. But the 3D version not so much. It was very blurry. There were lots of complaints.. And the staff was aware of the problem and did nothing!
Shelley0 -
143.0 at 5:00 this morning.
I never know what the scale's gonna do...
Thanks, Shelley. Yeah, he's a darling! We'll be picking the boys up in a bit. Should be a fun filled day. And I, too, have that "I know I hit save" issue. ***sigh***
Our wind here has been crazy. Clouds and sunshine.
I have a telephone appt at 8:00 about my surgery in 21 days. I have no idea what we will talk about.I'll let you know if it's at all interesting.
Later, my friends.
Chris0 -
179.8 this morning. More lilies and my purple hydrangeas. Sorry for the size of the pictures.
