It seems as though no one started a new thread for this week, I thought I'd start it fresh.

Sarah - I noticed you posted on the last thread. Great job on dropping some numbers on the scale. I've been trying to read what I've missed for the week/two and it sounds like your symptoms have gone away for the week... so that's good. I'm glad you've decided to get it checked out though.

Not a lot to report on for me... which is weird because my life is so insanely busy. I managed to hit a point yesterday where all of a sudden I started caring again, so that's a plus lol I went on the treadmill after work for a 45 minute walk and then again this morning at 5am for a 25 minute stroll. I plan to go again after supper. I found a show on Netflix I'm into, so that helps pass the time as I walk on the treadmill.

At home we've been busy planning our landscaping and deck so that we're ready for when we're finally allowed to do something. Right now we have to wait for the stucco and stone to be done and for the lot to be graded before we're allowed to do anything yard wise. We're living in a mud hole, which is never fun with a dog.

Anywho.. just thought I'd touch base quickly as my work day is ending. I'll check back tomorrow!

Hi, Kelly. Glad to see your post, and you're right. I saw a new post from Lois, and just posted there without thinking about the date of the thread. Yesterday was a real bust for me activity-wise. After a long day, I worked another couple of hours (10-midnight) on Tuesday night, and yesterday was a kick-*kitten* day, so by the time I finished work around 6:30, had dinner, and did a couple of household tasks, I sat down and hardly moved again. The tiredness hit me. Intake was not too bad until I had too many goldfish crackers. Those darned things are addictive. On a normal day, I would move enough that I would have still had a deficit, but I went over a bit yesterday. I feel asleep on the sofa, woke up, walked into the kitchen, and thought--why does my fitbit say 15 steps? And it hit me--it's after midnight. So I just headed to bed.

We had to be up early this morning to take the car to the body shop, so I hope the early start yields more time this evening.

Kelly, planning landscaping is fun. I love plants even though we have limited space for them. We can't plant much outside until mid-May due to possible frost, but that's almost here. Yeah! Hubby checked the landscape store yesterday for ferns, but none are in yet. Our big problem here with plants and planting is that it won't quit raining. We are getting maybe two days a week when it doesn't rain or doesn't stay cloudy and threatening. This happened several years ago and went on so long that one weekend, we just got in the car and went to hunt sunshine. Ended up in Wilmington, NC.

Up a pound, but I'm feeling more motivated today than I have in a while. I had my trainer this morning, and now I'm off for a walk. It's finally nice here (for now). Sarah, we've also had a lot of rain and cool weather this year. It seems like "one of those years" for us. One year, I remember July 4th being cold, and it was never very warm the entire summer. We had crazy thunderstorms yesterday, so I'm going to take advantage of partly cloudy today. I'm going out with girlfriends tonight, but I've already decided the choice is a good salad they have and ONE "skinny *kitten*" (vodka soda with lime). Mother's Day will be brunch, but I'm suddenly feeling in control and wanting to get my weight down, so I plan to order food wisely.

We had a great time in Oregon. Those girls are so fun :) Growing up way too fast. My daughter is very stressed in her job, and with all the rest of life. I worry about her and wish I could help, but there's really nothing I can do. It's a good thing the girls are in school, and her hubby works from home (when he's not out of town for work), and he cooks, does laundry, etc. She has great support from him. It's just the job (academia) and her co-workers that make life hard, and there's nothing I can do about that other than listen and lend support.

Sarah, I'm very worried about your symptoms. Does the doctor think it's your heart? Get it all checked out. I was concerned about radiation, but my doctor told me that at my age I would likely not live long enough for radiation exposure from medical tests be a factor at all. I say, get the tests so you'll know what you're dealing with. I hope you feel better. It could just be from all the stress you're under.

Lois, lucky you getting to see your baby tomorrow! Can you even believe how fast they grow?! Post some photos please ;) And with all the graduations and celebrations, I hope you can find time to take care of yourself, too. Haven't seen "Endgame" yet. Hubby is wanting to go. It looks like it's long.

Kelly, I was so happy to see your post, and that you're back to caring again. And, on the same timeline with me caring again, lol! Let's do this! And, when the time comes, doing landscaping chores burns lots of calories. ;) By the way, what is the Netflix show you're watching? I'm always looking for ways to pass the time while walking . . podcasts, audiobooks, etc. Speaking of which, if you ladies find time to read, I've been reading "Educated" by Tara Westover, and I can hardly put it down. It's a memoir that's close to home and the experiences of some girls in this part of the country . . it's quite good.

Sorry, for the long post. I can't procrastinate my walk any more, lol. I'll check back tomorrow.

The Netflix show I just finished was "Dead to Me". It's new and season 1 has 10 episodes. I binged watched it because I liked it so much so now I'm already looking for a new show. I love having shows to watch like that to pass the time on the treadmill.

I'm not sure what kind of podcasts you're into but I really like true crime. There's one from Canada called "Someone Knows Something" and season 5 is all about a girl who was murdered in 1986 in the city that I grew up in. It's one of the biggest unsolved murders in our province. So sad.
I rarely get a chance to read, but when I do I usually just read fiction novels. Not really into reading self help or non-fiction much. I do like autobiographies, but usually only if they're sports related.

Sarah - I'm actually not looking forward to landscaping lol While I do like the look of plants and shrubs when they're done, I have a hard time deciding what should go where. I'm okay doing the work, but need help with the planning. Our plan so far is to do the deck first, then fence, the build the shed, then a patio and then a firepit area towards the back. We have a massive backyard considering we live in the city.

Kelly, I saw your post last night, and we watched the first episode of "Dead to Me". It's really good, so thank you. I don't know if you can get it on Netflix (I see it on Hulu), but "The Handmaids Tale" is really good . . I can't wait for the next season. I also subscribed to the podcast . . haven't listened yet, but the next bad weather day on the treadmill I'll be tuned in. ;)

Your landscaping plan is smart because you'll get all the structures and fixed features in before you plant. It's so nice you have a large backyard!

I've been logging food and getting some exercise pretty well. I'm feeling more motivated to get my butt in gear. I noticed that I can't keep up with kiddos at the park as well as I was, and the waistlines on my pants are quite a bit tighter. :s So, it's time to get after it and stick to it. I was good when out with my friends . . had a light salad and one drink.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, so we'll be going to brunch with daughter here and her boyfriend. We might try to get into "The Avengers", and I want to FaceTime with my Cali and Oregon families. I promise to log food and keep intake under control.

Lois, I'm thinking of you on this Mother's Day. <3 My mother and hubby's mother have been gone a while, but I remember the pain of the loss, especially on holidays. It gets easier.

Sarah, the same thoughts go out to you. Take care my friend. And, I hope your sister is doing well.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day, and a great weekend.

Happy Mothers Day SNSers. Lois, special thoughts for you, today. My Mom died two months before Mothers Day in 2015, and I remember that year

It's another cool, extremely rainy day here in the metro DC area. I was so hoping for a nice day since so many people will be out and about. I got my hair cut at noon yesterday and was unprepared for the increase in traffic volume and had to call ahead to say I might be a few minutes late. I don't think I'll venture out much today.

Yesterday was cloudy, but there were breaks in the rain, so hubby and I tried to get some yard work done. I was out back on the brick patio (scene of the "chipmunk incident") and was pulling on a limb that had fallen into a flower bed and was tangled in leftover stems and leaves from the daffodils and the pachysandra. I didn't realize how large it was, and when it finally gave way, I fell *kitten* over tea kettle and my calf landed on a trowel sitting prongs up. So I have large bruise with a small gash (and this through jeans!) and my shoulders and right arm are very sore. I think I need supervision when I'm on that patio! Anyhow, it hurts to walk, so I did not do any planned walking yesterday, and I am going to have to play it by ear today.

Tomorrow is "no electricity" day while the main electrical box in the house is replaced. This pricey repair makes me grateful I'm still working. It is going to be a challenge, however, to work tomorrow. I am going to try to get at least a half day in using our hot spot and the batteries in the laptop.

Tonight, some new neighbors are having us in for a late, post-Ramadan dinner. They moved to the U.S. from Bangladesh and I believe lived in an apartment in a big city. They have no clue about yards. Last time it snowed, hubby gave them one of our snow shovels because they were trying to clear their walk with dustpans. We had just bought two new ones, so he made one a housewarming gift! And then yesterday, the dad asked him about cleaning out gutters now that the oaks around us have shed their "helicopter seeds." We have a long ladder, so hubby let them borrow that, along with some other tools. He also went over to provide some on-site TA. LOL So they want to prepare us a traditional meal. They brought us food once as a thank-you for the shovel and although hubby enjoyed it, there's a dominant spice I didn't care for. I am just hoping this is chicken or beef and not lamb or goat! I don't enjoy the latter two.

Sheesh, I am going to check out the book you mentioned. I read one review, and it sounds very interesting. I enjoy a good mystery or a fiction novel--especially on rainy days--but I particularly like nonfiction for some reason. My newest book (that I am saving for the pool which opens next weekend since it's heated) is "I'm the One Who Got Away." I know the author's husband and the book is getting great reviews.

Well, I managed yesterday to get almost 10,000 steps even though I have a baseball-size lump in my calf and I'm sore all over. I also tried to log my food, although that was a bit of a trick. Our neighbors decided that since most Americans like Chinese food, they would prepare a Chinese-type dinner with a Bangladeshi twist. So we had their version of hot and sour soup, chicken and beef wontons, beef samosas, shrimp fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken. So I just used the Chinese versions to log it.

I learned a lot about the Bangladeshi culture--enough to make me grateful to be American. Life is much harder on women in that culture. I'm sure I'm a bit of a puzzle to them!

The electrical work had to be rescheduled for May 23 because the rain is still pouring down and they can't open the main electrical box when it's raining. Maybe because I had my head set to work only part-time today, but I'm having a hard time focusing on what needs to get done.

Hope all is well with everyone. Now back to it!

Happy belated Mother's Day to everyone. We had an amazing time. Son is graduated. Sister was here and she is back in Cali - she's doing well again. MIL is still here and goes home next Friday. Son and DIL are adults now and starting to look for their first home to purchase now that son has a full time permanent job and no more school YAY. Graduation day we had bbq before grad...I was busy with Rhea and had an upset tummy that I didn't eat much. I mad a tri tip in the sous vide for Thursday....it was quite delicious. My sis even asked me to make her one to take home (she doesn't usually like the foods I prepare - WOW). Salt, pepper, garlic powder and sous vide at 131.5 for 10 hours followed by char in the cast iron on the grill. super tender and flavorful - hubby even liked it. Grad party with the usual fare on Saturday (ribs, burgers, hot sausages, mac salad, garbanzo bean salad and hearts of palm salad (my friend has still not shared her recipe with me...I could eat these daily). The salads were on the healthier side and I loved that. Desserts were too many. I was so exhausted on Sunday and we nibbled at leftovers. Had leftovers for lunch and dinner yesterday and today for lunch. I think we're done and I have to figure out something for dinner tonight.

This was my week last week:
Mon-Tue - Worked to be gone for three days
    Wed - graduation
    Thur - Shopped for party
    Fri - watched rhea 9- 6
Sat - prep and had party (18k steps and sore legs - haha)
sun - crashed and watch rhea (lots of walks around the block to put her down for her nap)
Mon worked - had dinner and in bed at 830 still so tired

I was kept extremely busy. I miss my mom, but I didn't have a breakdown (surprised myself). I was surprised by my other siblings and their focus on having tons of flowers on her grave site. Seriously over 45 different text messages on the family text group. I wished they'd paid that much attention when she was still here with us. I'm not a huge cemetery visiting kinda person. I don't know if it's because my birth mom and Daddy were both cremated. Ma is at Lake Winnesquam in NH and Daddy is in the pacific ocean outside of San Pedro, Ca. I talk to them whenever I want, I don't need to go to those locations to feel them or talk to them. I'd send flowers to both of my moms on off times, not the holidays (a week or two before or after). I dunno. they have to process their grief in their own way I guess. I really miss her when I'm driving home as that is when I would usually call her.

Sarah - I love your comment about appreciated being an American. We have several foreign friends and we all have the same feeling. We were so excited when our friends got their citizenship. YoUCH to that trowel incident - glad it wasn't worse. My vinca's are filling in and looking pretty. So happy to have them planted and blooming. Praying for your hubby to have a successful surgery and finds relief. Hoping your sister is doing well.

Sheesh - thought about you Sat night as I was visiting with friend/trainer. She was getting on me about getting back into the studio...actually going and seeing her new studio. Anyhow we were chatting and I was commenting on how I really miss the workouts and how i get slightly jelly when you talk about your trainer coming over and your awesome workouts that make you sore. I need to get back in there. I loved seeing your posts with the grand kiddos!

Kelly so happy you're finding your focus again. I'll find mine soon I'm sure. Have fun doing your landscape design. I had no vision for it but I do love how I turned my retaining wall into a long flowerbed. Get your hardscape in and then the pretty stuff.
